DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

It has nothing to do with saving money; it has everything to do with Dish/Charlie being petulant little school kid bullies, after the teacher caught them picking on a bunch of first graders.

Damned bunch of morons. At this point, I'm hoping that uVerse will be available where I'm going, because I definitely won't go dish if AMC isn't there.

No AMC, no DISH for me. I signed up for DISH because at the time it was significantly cheaper and offered more channels, but over the last year my wife has been urging me to take one of the many cheaper offers from Uverse (cheaper for a year anyway), time to take a 2nd look I guess.

I hear you i went down to international stations, superstatiions and the cheapest package and went with directv and am so happy I did and they give me discounts on channels and no channel disputes and legal diputes like charlie has alot of.Charlie gets in more legal disputes where he has to go to court and who does it end up hurting the consumer with all legal bills gets passed on to us.I appreciated Charlie for trying to keep prices down but just taking the rest of the channels down because hes in a dispute with to rainbow is wrong and its going to coma back and bite him in the rear if hes not careful :)

You better start reading about uVerse. It has the worse HD picture of any of the providers from what I've read. Also the further you are away from your node the fewer things you can record at one time.

As I just told the other guy better start reading how bad the PQ is on it.

They have channel disputes too. Just not as often. They let Charlie do most of the fighting of the providers and stand back and reap the rewards.

I talked to a DISH rep on the phone this evening, and he told me that he "guarantees" that we will Not be losing DISH -- and then gave me a $10 credit for July. He also said that Sundance was off only because of the negotiations, and that DirecTV customers are also seeing the same notices on AMC. Anyone been told the same?

I havent seen it on Directv about AMC..Dont believe everything a CSR tells you and i would believe the Dirt Team on here more than a CSR from Dish :)

There is no DirecTV/AMC squabble. What the Dish CSR was saying is that the crawl that AMC is running about Dish is showing on every system that has AMC including DirecTV because everyone shows the same feed. That may or may not be true as different providers sometimes have different feeds for different distributors, but the CSR was downright wrong in guaranteeing that AMC wouldn't be dropped.

The Fat Man said:
That's not true. I have family with FiOS, DirecTV, and Comcast, no crawl on any. Don't listen to CSRs when it comes to the technology side of the business. They don't know crap and are paid to lie about the crap they don't know.

I have Comcast and I have seen the crawl.

I think you misspoke. You meant to say, "not be losing AMC", right?

As others have indicated, the CSR's simply don't know.

I think, at this point, it is a given that the AMC channels will be taken down as of July 1. The question is, for how long? That's anybody's guess.
