Dish/Fox Resolve Dispute

ABC must feel like a fool now, only getting a 3-day wait for Autohop. Once Dish agreed to even that timeframe, Autohop being available within 24 hours was on it's way out.... CBS got 7 days and now FOX did. Dish may as well add that provision into the "offer" to NBC now.

Well, unless there was more to it, Dish came out relatively unscathed, considering.

yeah - 3 days was "handwriting on the wall" - whether or not we realized it back then.

The networks don't care if viewers manually skip commercials. All that matters is Nielsen rating numbers so if you watch a program within 6 days of it's original airing, they get "credit" for counting you as a viewer, which a network then uses to determine advertising rates. They don't know, nor care, if you skipped commercials. The advertisers don't know either.

With Autohop in place, an advertiser like Doritos, McDonalds, etc could negotiate with a network and say "subtract half of your viewers that come from Dish Network" because they can presume that a substantial number of customers may not or will not see the ads that they paid for.
