DISH Locals Launching in June

yep I get an error when checking locals

get the error when checking a "new" address (one that gets locals now) and an old one (that has had locals for 13 years)

The main page for checking yourlocals has changed, now says 100% of country is cover but when you try tocheck any address I get a compilation error. Anyone else able to check an address??

My web page showed my existing service without the locals and stated that was no longer available, though I had the option of keeping it as is if I wanted. If I changed I couldn't go back to my original package.

Under the options it said to call the 888 number to make changes, which I did. The hold was longer then normal, but not unreasonable. I was told they are not offering the Significantly Viewed channels (I was hoping to get Syracuse, NY HD along with my SD Binghamton locals).

Switching between the Dish version and the OTA version of the same channels I can see a huge difference in picture quality. What I get with my antenna looks MUCH better. The Dish signal is quite fuzzy. Unfortunately, I only get two channels over the air, but at least I now have guide data for those.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep my AAD HD channels from Chicago. The SD locals are nice, but it's like looking at them through a fog. I can A/B two locals I get with an antenna against the SD versions from Dish and the difference is startling. It's like the early days of watching DirecTV after viewing channels for years on my C-Band dish.

I asked the Dish rep if I could get SV HD channels and he told me they were not being offered.

you can't get out of market HD channels unless your local market
A. is in HD on Dish
B. is missing a Network

I'm in the Utica N.Y. market and I get my networks through AAD. What do I have to do to get them from Dish? What Satellite will they be on? I get 110 and 119 will I need a new Dish? And can I keep AAD? I like getting the NY City stations for Jets and Giants games.

Utica is on 119 but you need a receiver that can support 8PSK

311 or a VIP receiver will

What receiver (s) do you have?

yeah you're fine
The only DishPro models that dont work are 301, 501, 508 & 510

Easiest thing to do is see what kind of signal you get on 119 TP1
menu 6-1-1 change to 119 satellite TP1

8PSK receivers will lock the signal....others wont

Just one more question. I have America's Top 250 plus PBS and I pay 64.99. On the Dish Network web site under my current programing it says"*Your Basic Programming is not a current programming option and is only available for you until you choose to switch to an available package below." and it will cost 5.99 to get the Utica locals. Is this right?

I know when they did some other 8PSK MPEG2 markets they said on the Chat that you had to have a ViP receiver. But I don't see that as being true since they would have marked them as ViP MPEG2 SD...and made them MPEG4 anyways. So if you can get them on 311 or other MPEG2 receiver that is 8PSK capable, let us know.

Basic Programming: America's Top 250 $59.99 * Premiums Channels: A La Carte and Add-ons: PBS Network $2.00 MSG $0.00 MSG Plus $0.00 SportsNet New York $0.00 *Your Basic Programming is not a current programming option and is only available for you until you choose to switch to an available package below. You are free to keep your current Basic Programming, but if you elect to change, you will not be able to receive this package again. This is what it says on My Account Programing. America's Top 250 $59.99 plus the 2.00 for PBS but my bill this month is 64.99 before that it had been 65.49 with no changes in programming.

Well, it's finally happened. After years of denied waivers, buying and installing numerous roof top antenna's, I finally have all the networks from a satellite provider.
This miraculous feat is not without it's caveats, first disappointing fact, all locals are SD (haven't checked the OTA yet) as promised by ICE. Secondly, a $7.00/month increase.
I'm not complaining, just sharing my experience.
I can live with the new $72.99/month expense, but when my promo ends it will balloon to $87.99/month. Guess I'll be downgrading.
Hell, it's just television programming, right?
For now I will enjoy viewing news and weather that is truly local, and not from a city that is 1500 miles west of me.

When you get them, which CBS do they give you? If you're in Oneida County WTVH is SV. If you're in Otsego or Herkimer County it should be WRGB, but WRGB does not show in the Utica channel map.

WRGB is the only CBS that's SV in Herkimer and Otsego Counties.

The Dish web site is all messed up right now it says I'm eligible for Houston TX. locals. It was showing WTVH Syracuse earlier today.

catman60 has Marquette, MI locals which are on 129W as 8PSK and he uses 311's...in fact he's having some issues with one local on that 311 ;)
He's got a few threads on it
