Utilities companies do not need to go on your property anymore. They have a wireless device that reads your meters so they do not have to get out of the car. I dunno about you but all the houses I have owned in the last 10 years have had wireless meters. they drive to the front of your house get a handheld meter hit some numbers look at it and drive off. soo Now nobody need to be in your back yard anymore.
That's not true. The water meter and gas meters are read manually here. I have have no clue when they come to read these meters, nor do I care. When I accepted the services I agree to grant access to the meters and any utiulity easements on my property. That latter applies to everyone.
Also, when a customer wenters into a realtionship with the telco and /or the cable company, they grant access to the lines above or buried under the surface of the property.
Another thing that a lot of people do not know. If your neighbor's electrical, telco, water, gas or water line is buried beneath your property you must by law allow access to the services. . For example, I have a friend who was a superintendant for a prodcution builder. He got a call from a homeowner about no electricity. The power company was contacted and they determined the service line had failed. The service line originated in front of a neighbors home. The line was buried under that neighbor's driveway. The line had to be replaced neceesitating the neighbor's drive to be excavated. The neighbor had no choice. The drive was above a utility easement. The power compnay had full and legal access to that service. Of course the power company bore the responsibility of restoring the driveway to it's original condition, whcih wass done..
Point is we have property rights . But when we engage in these relationships with utilities we grant others certain rights as well. It is the cost of living in cities or suburbs.
Dish Network has no such rights. However, it is just a heckova lot easier to just let the QC guy do his job. All this hard edged nonsense about people refusing access to the system "just because" is stupid.
