Well after many many delays I finally got the T90 dish back up :) I had taken it down in the spring for various reasons but decided to put it back up. Finally had a weekend (last weekend) to do it. Been drawing up "blueprints" as to how everything should be wired.

Then it rained
and rained
and rained
for 4 days :(

Finally got the dish set back up Wednesday night..got my true south set up and called it a night....Thursday put all the LNB's on it and was all set to go. Moved the 36" dish for G10 over and put the 6 footer back up. Was going to keep the StarChoice dish up for 30W but it blocks the view of the 6 footer so down it came.

Friday was the big day to wire everything up. Had LNB's set up on
72,74,79,85,87,93,97,101,107,110...119 & 123 on the 36" dish. Originally was going to have 74/79, 85/93, 97/101 on 4x4 switches. The 87 would be dedicated to the CS8000 since it can decode AC-3. 107 for SC sub and 110/119 for Dish sub.

And we ran into issues...but I learned a lot. I learned you can't mix 2 LNB's on one side of a multiswitch and run it into a Diseqc. I was going to have 101 H and 123 V on one side of the 4x4 multiswitch but the receiver wouldn't decode it once it went through a diseqc. So back to the drawing board. Then I figured set up most of the LNB's on 2 receivers instead of 3. I wanted to have on the Coolsat 8000 8 LNB's but since the 8000 doesn't have blind scan why bother. So I figured to set up most of the LNB's on the Pansat 1500 & Visionsat. But that would take a bunch of 22k switches

Oh wait....I have these Ecoda 22k switches that supposedly can pass Diseqc tones. So I figured set it as up as such 72,74,79,85 on one 4x1 diseqc and 93,97,99,123 on another for one setup...74,85,93,97 on one 4x1 diseqc and 101,119,99,123 on another setup
72,79,101 are single LNB's

So after ripping out all the wiring and zip ties I wired up the 2 4x1 diseqc switches and hooked them to the 22k switch. I really wanted to see if this would really pass DIseqc tones. And yes they do!! :D

So finished wired up everything and now it all works :)

Took 2 3x4 multiswitches for 99 C-Band and 123 KU.
Took 4 4x1 diseqc switches. One has 72,74,79,85...another has 74,85,93,97...another has 93,97,99,123 and the last 101,119,123,99. Then wired it all up to the receivers. So now that it's finished (and works) we're set up as such

Coolsat 8000 can see 99, 123, 87 and a feed from the motorized (in case there is some HD programming)
Viacast gets 99 & 123
Pansat 1500 sees 72,74,79,85,93,97,99,123
Visionsat sees 74,85,93,97,101,99,119,123

I'm happy that the Ecoda switches can pass Diseqc as advertised. Now instead of a bunch of 22k switches I only needed 2 :)

Pictures of the setup. The pictures of the switches are all screwed below the table and out of the elements...I might put some plywood around it. Yes the one picture of the wires is crazy :)

But all I care is it all works now. :D

Very nice job, setup and pictures.

I like your setup a lot, this must have kept you very busy.

How long did it take you to align that?

If I want someone to blind search a satellite I know exactly who to call ;).

Thanks. The pictures of the switches were from the ground looking up under the table between a couple spindles on the deck :)

Took longer to get the wiring done to how I liked it than setting up the LNB's.

Since my center satellite is also my true south (IA6) took maybe 20 minutes. But I already was a few steps ahead as I had this set up once before. That first time took me longer to set up :)
http://www.satelliteguys.us/fta-mpe...ve-frontier-toroidal-t-90-satellite-dish.html

It was pretty much set up the dish and aim at 93W...slip on the LNB's on the ends (74 & 107 and make sure the signal was right. Had to tweak the skew a little bit for optimum signal but all and all I'm happy with the results..Like I say I had done this before so I knew what to expect. The first time I did it took much longer

:D

After looking at your pics, I now know why copper prices are so high! :) I hope the copper thieves don't find out about all the cable you got :) Looks great!

nah...most of those cables below the table are less than 3-4 feet...there is maybe 200 feet of cable there...its the rest of the setup that the cables are used heavily :)

But I do need more compression connectors though

Absolutely amazing work and great pictures IceBerg. What kind of S and Q percentages do you generally see and aim for on the Satellites over that wide range for the T90 Dish?

Looks like you're using PPC EX6's :) Those are the same ones I use. There are some good deals for them on E-Bay, but recently I've been bumming them off of local cable installers :D I had been down to two of them before about two weeks ago, when I got a big handful from an installer.

You really are a "true" Satellite Guy.......drool.............
Very nice setup. Now I'd like to see a wide shot of the back of your house just to see what it looks like with ALL the dishes in one shot.........the "dish farm" view.

amazingly the same as a motorized setup. Check out the review I did originally on it in the review area :)

The only LNB that is hindered is 87 and that is because the holders make it 2 1/2-3 degrees away and I have it crammed next to 85.

But hey I get the PBS channels no issues :)

I'm down to 13 but bought 3 bags off a Ebay seller for dirt cheap... :)

I'll take a couple tonight... :)

Very cool setup Iceberg, and very nicely done.

When was it did you say you were coming thru western New York? Ha Ha.

It looks like time well spend especially with winter coming.

yep...with winter here in MN maybe a month or so away :D want to get as much FTA stuff done beforehand

Congratulations on getting the T90 back in business Tony. Just in time for College Football, and you have a few days before College Hockey gets going to get any quirks out of the system. Thanks for the pictures, they are very inspiring. Very Good Job!

T90 rulez, beats all dishes, when you had a T90 there is nothing that makes you go back.

I will install the rest of my LNBs tomorrow when the UPS delivery guy comes by with my Invertos.

14 LNBs total covering 45 East to 1 West, approx 17 satellites coming in with high signal levels.

However the plastic LNB holders are a pain to work with, there is some hope i can get new ones in metal from someone making them in Australia.

Yep...College hockey is just around the corner and having only one motorized wasn't going to cut it :)

So the T90 came back up...my neighbor guy just shook his head when he was out Friday night at midnight and he hears me working on it :)
