They don't have to provide anything else that's not satellite related. It's just an added feature and if you still want it you can get it.
Supposedly they have 1.5 million units in stock ready to ship, so I think there will be plenty of them to go around on launch day...

Not too many right now. But I'll bet that number grows, month by month, starting "soon."

As a neighbor of yours I thought you should know so far only Cox, ATT and Direct TV have agreed to carry the new Padre channel that launched a few days ago.DanC_SD said:

Exactly. If they replaced a receiver, the replacement should have the same functionality.
Not many Dish customers buy their receivers any more, so I doubt there will be much of a flood. Dish on the other hand will have quite the supply of spares...
