Are you sure it isn't Directv Now? Don't think they will do equipment install and not have some kind of contract.

That's DTVNow, Directvs version of SlingTV which Dish offers the same. That is "how will DTV try to compete with a Dish?", not the other way around. DTVN is the last player in the game.

Yeah, DTVNow is competing with SlingTV's free week trial. In fact, I've seen nothing but DTVNow ads on TV and not a single DTV sat service ad on TV. That is just what I've seen, others may have seen sat ads on TV I am not aware of. Clearly DTV is focused on NOW for the time being.

Been listening to Christmas music quite a bit on Pandora the past few days and it's all Dish Flex Pack commercials

Not when you are a paid subscriber to Pandora... :). No commercials when you subscribe...

True; I'm sure you knew that my point was that Dish is still pushing it's satellite-based TV packages, at least on the radio. I see Sling TV ads primarily on my local OTA channels, though

I $ee no rea$on to $ubscribe and plenty not to.

I'm amazed they provide so much for so few commercials.
You've convinced me! I just cancelled my sub. I do find that I listen more to Amazon Prime these days when I am driving. It saves me about $4 a month ( I had a loyalty discount from Pandora).

Even on the free service, Pandora gives you access to the higher bitrate audio through their mobile apps which is really nice as well. I keep it turned off on my phone, though, because it chews through a lot of data!
