Maybe this has been explained before and I just didn't see it, but why is Longhorn Network only in HD during certain live games?

I dunno, either, but it's sure nice when it is - such a difference from the SD channel! The UTEP game on LHN wasn't in HD, and I guess that's understandable, since it wasn't a big-name opponent. I'm just delighted the half-time and post-game coverage has also been on the HD channel. Nice!

Because there is not sufficient bandwidth and there's little on this channel. Want it in HD? WatchESPN streaming will give it to you.

Might not be much you want to watch, but I watch it every day, and HD would be sooooo much nicer. Especially when damn near every other sports channel is broadcast in HD 24/7. As to the mangling of "Texaholma" being PAC bound, that's not something I've heard even a whispering of - please site a source. Even if, I don't see LHN going away.

All the other RSN's Dish has are in HD 18 hours a day. When Dish made the change last spring from RSN's being in HD only during the game (and hit and miss HD) to 18 hours a day, I thought LHN would get the same treatment. I was wrong. But I agree - for those that watch it, the HD is so much nicer. I am not an avid watcher, but I have a friend who is a Longhorn fan and when he comes over, it is nice to watch the basketball games in HD. Last year we had one time it was in HD, another day the game was in SD (and we streamed it through the WatchESPN app in HD)

Yeah, WatchESPN is nice if you have a good ISP. I'm in a dead zone AT&T-wise, and my only ISP maximum option is 2MG d/l. Not the best option, especially for sports. This situation makes what Dish offers all that more important. Sigh.

Look, if you want to watch it in full time HD and be a DISH customer, I told you where you can get it - via WatchESPN, works on Roku, Kindle Fire TV and others.

I am not the one talking of Texaholma take it up with the guy who wrote that - I didn't.

If you don't like DISH choices for how they manage the HD content and their lack of bandwidth, complain to DISH. The reality is that most Regional Sports Networks are only on HD during live games, This is nothing new and no different from other local sports networks. And yes, DISH considers it a local sports network.

Arguing and whining to me about all your ills will do nothing for you
