Moving TV2 remote antenna

Has anyone else seen an issue where a customer has had the TV2 remote antenna moved using splitters for a long period of time and over the last few days the picture has turned fuzzy on TV2? We have had several customers have this problem. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

You need to change the TV2 output channel (frequency) without any interference. You have to remember, today the old UHF TV spectrum is being shared by hundreds of new services. Many of these services are not permanent and continuous services so it is very possible that such interference will can come and go.

By moving the TV2 Remote antenna to the TV2 location you are combining (with the splitters) the Remote antenna and TV2 output to the same cable. By doing so you are introducing a new path to any signal (picked up by the antenna) that can interfere with your TV2 output.

Moving the TV2 Remote antenna to the TV2 location using splitter should be done only if extending the antenna with a piece of coax cable wouldn't work especially if you are doing it for a customer and they cannot help themselves.

Make sure the splitter is installed properly (coax from wall to IN, antenna on 1 OUT, TV coax on the other.) Also, using an attenuator on the antenna can help to reduce interference.

If you're using diplexers it will work as well. Just place the "IN" of each splitter on the "UHF" side of each diplexer.

Also, as previously stated, try changing the channel on the modulator/TV2. Lower channels tend to get by with less interference. It also depends on what channels are broadcasting in the area. Check antennaweb.org. I have a setup with the diplexers and with RG6 and the attenuator on the antenna the PQ is about as good as it gets for SDTV. It actually looks pretty darn good (it's a Sony Trinitron.) I'm using channel 73.

Also, RG59 will severely impact the PQ. I had to replace the RG59 run to the TV2 with RG6 as there was ghosting and poor color. This is caused by an impedance mismatch.

The problem is likely to be unique to your area. As upsss suggests, someone has probably fired up a TV channel that is close to where you've been setting your TV2 modulated frequency.

If these are HD receivers, you can change the modulated frequency from the menus. If we're talking SD, you've got your work cut out for you.

Shouldn't matter hd our sd, you can change the modulated channel from the menu. menu 6-1-5. Although if you add an attenuator to the splitter before the remote antenna that will likely fix the problem being that the remote antenna is the culprit. whatever the source of the interference the remote antenna is what's introducing it into the UHF part of the system.

You can also try putting antenna back on receiver and using remote address 4 on tv2 remote. Address 4 seems to reach farthest for me.
