OTA Update?

Simple question or not. Hopper has more then one USB port can't you just use two tuners for a double?
Physically plugging in (2) OTA tuners can certainly be done, but doesn't mean the software will do anything with the 2nd stream. On the other hand, they do have the s/w code that can do it. The 722k has a single input that's split internally and the s/w reads it as if it were (2) streams.

The 722k OTA module has two actual tuners split off a single antenna feed.

That WASN'T what I was asking...............................................

The hopper has the hard drive and runs all the live tv and DVR functions. I don't think plugging the OTA tuner into the Joey would work. Why would you want to anyways?

My guess would be due to the antenna lead-in being closer to the Joey??

It might be possible but it just doesn't seem realistic to me. The antenna signal would have to be fed from the Joey to the hopper and then sent back down the same cable from the hopper back to the Joey. I think it will only work when plugged directly into the hopper.

If Dish carried all of my locals in HD it wouldn't be an issue, but they don't, plus some channels they don't offer at all.
I don't use HD as a criteria. There's a good bit of SD stuff that I watch that DISH doesn't carry (or even have guide data for) in my market.

I've spent half an hour searching the forum but can't find the picture that Scott posted of the OTA unit. Anyone point me in the right direction?

That sucks if only one ota tuner. It looks like a big step backward . We are back to a single ota tuner like the 622/722 receivers. Add to that the hopper integration is not true integration, and you can only switch to what hopper you want to watch, and this is disappointing. Looks like I will stay with the 722k for now or look at the competition if I want true whole house dvr.

With PTAT though, The OTA would only be needed for the sub channels really. Granted, you could only watch or record one, but at least you could get to them.

I would be content to have a OTA tuner which records only one channel at a time. There are 3 sub-channels which Dish doesn't have yet so I still need an OTA solution for now.

Well I guess one is better than none. But I don't see why they didn't include the ota module like the 722k /922 already has . THere is already a place for it in the back of the box. Why re-invent the wheel each time? We already know that the dual ota tuner module works. Just seems like DISH changes everything every couple of years ,just for the sake of change. I thought the add on modules was a step in the right direction. Even add on sat tuners would of been cool to me. But now they have "hopped" off in a new direction entirely, pun intended.

Not remembering where it left off

Sling only works with live TV
