A new Roku channel was added yesterday called "Pilot TV". It looks really cool and they have a lot of great retro programming. However, once the channel was added I needed to enter an access code and there is nowhere on the site to enter this code. I believe I need to become a subscriber. I might try it free for a week to see the quality of the programming.

    1 week free or $1.99 a month or $24 a year.

I say we're better off making our own Roku channel!

That would not be a bad idea and am surprised someone did not think of that before.

I'm now signed up for a free week and so far I like the new service. Watching the pilot never before seen episode of "Bewitched" right now.

Attached are the schedules for this week and next week.

Popcorn, I might have to try this one looks pretty good. I usually steer away from the pay channels but it might be worth a try.

Popcorn, I watched the Jeannie and Lucy episodes they were pretty good. I wish they had more stuff to watch at any given time. Let me know if you decide to keep it after a week. Not sure yet on this end.

Blind, I never subscribe to channels also and have kept my Roku account at $0.00 since day one. However, I might just purchase this channel.

I watched "Flipper" yesterday and the video quality was excellent. I believe it was HD like when "Flipper" was on VOOM several years ago. Tonight is an unseen episode of "Leave it to Beaver". So far I'm loving this channel and have been watching daily. I even watched some episodes twice if I was interrupted during the first time I watched and missed some scenes.

I want to look into the difference between the $17 and $24 annual subscription. Even if I must pay $24 being a cord-cutter this wouldn't be bad, especially if my family is going to be watching the channel almost daily.

My concern is what happens once all the pilot episodes have been shown? The second year might just be the same programs seen during the first year. Perhaps I'll simply order per month at $1.99 then if repeats are shown or we stop watching I can cancel.

Ok, it looks like an annual subscription to watch the ROKU channel is only $17.99 ($1.50 per month). This is less than a Satellite Guys pub membership, a tank of gas and even a single pizza delivery.

I might just go ahead and subscribe for a year after my 1 week preview is over this weekend.

How much original content is out there though? They may have blown their whole wad on the preview shows, take some money and fold.

SGTV does have a nice ring to it. Also, there is enough public content to pull it off. You're right, this site does have enough talent, and I'll add, characters, to pull it off. However, its just a thought unless the big cheese OK's it.

    Cheers, K

I like the SGTV channel idea. :)

Tonight I watched an unseen "Leave it to Beaver" episode that had different actors playing Wally and Ward. The video quality was very good, but the video ratio was off resulting in heads being not shown in certain scenes. I tried adjusting the video formats on the TV, but none seemed to help.

However, it was a good episode and Joseph Kearns (Mr. Wilson) played a part in it too.

To create the channel, we could be up and running within 24hours. However, organizing/assembling the content is the issue.

    Check these public content sites:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TV_series_with_episodes_in_the_public_domain

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_in_the_public_domain_in_the_United_States

    http://www.openflix.com/

    http://archive.org/search.php?query...ediatype:movies AND collection:moviesandfilms

As I previously mentioned, lots of quality content for the taking, but if there is enough interest and its cool w/ Scotty then am in.

We do have enough "talent" and "characters" to do a quality project.

    Cheers, K

Watched "The Hillbillies of Beverly Hills" last night which later became "The Beverly Hillbillies". The uncut commercial free episode was 31 minutes long, so you can see just how much of our favorite shows get cut due to commercials.

    Tonight is "Gilligan's Island".
