What's the time frame for the uplinks to become available on our systems. Will it happen today? Before or after the Charlie Chat?

I doubt it would be today. Probably Wendesday or Friday... or even the following week. Kinda doubt Charlie would say "Let there be HD" and it was so... (otherwise, people would stop watching his show and go straight to the new channels :D)

I was kind of hoping for a presser put out late last night so people would be excited and tune into the Charlie Chat. If Charlie makes an announcement, only to have a technical foul-up in the release of the channels, all eyes would be on him. I would have thought they would launch prior to the chat, so Charlie could say with confidence that the Channels are up and they now have 1 million HD Channels!!

They often announce new channels on the Charlie chat. The only problem is that usually the story gets scooped here on the internet first. So its a rare day when a Charlie Chat tells us something that we don't already know. But it does happen about once a year on something.

Otherwise, they usually take a few phone calls. Discuss upcoming Dish "events" or features. Do some PR for a new Channel/Network/ PPV etc.. Then the VP of Interactive software comes on and tries a silly skit.

And keep in mind that Charlie always leaves his statements open so nothing is set in stone.

"We hope to have..."

"We should..."

"Our goal..."

What I am wishing for:
  • FX
  • E!
  • Fox News
  • Fox Business
  • Comedy Central
  • Thriller or Chiller or some kind of scary movie channel (no, Spice or any other HD porn does not count, even though multiple c-section scars may be terrifying to some...)
  • ESPNU (along with a time machine to go back and watch the countless games that they had over the college football season)
What we will get:
  • ...
  • Time to think about whether the DVR is worth it...
  • ...
  • Maybe some VOD, a la Comcast...
My signature will move up to two thumbs if we get any substantial increase in National HD tonight.

Charlie chat on new HD we will try to launch a bunch of locals before the year is out here is our slate.

He nevers mention new HD untill it is linked. He will talk anout the Golf Virsus split since that has happen.

Also the chat sometime mentions upcomming upgrades to our receivers.

Lol. Similarly, my thoughts are, "D*'s DVR can't be *that* bad...."

I have actually used the lastest and greatest of Direct's home grown DVR's and I have to say that they are EXTREMELY slow (read extremely like those douchebags in Harold and Kumar say 'extreme!' :yikes). The menu's were certainly pretty and shiny, but I couldn't believe the length of time I waited for a page to scroll by... It was painful compared to even Comcast's or Time Warner's motorola boxes.

Turn scroll off.
