Pricing Update from Dish Network

Maybe this was answered in this thread, just could not find it. If I own my second receiver, will I be billed for it whether it is owned or not? I assumed it would not, but some of the comments make me think it will be billed no matter what.

Yes, you will be billed for it. There is no advantage any more to owning the receiver.

So using scotts calculator I end up with a $10.02 increase after some loyalty credit. I won't count the loyalty credit though unless it is forever.

$59.99 AEP
$10.00 GoldHD & Platinum
$17.00 Receiver Fees
510 receiver ($10.00)
508 receiver ($ 7.00)
Included Locals
$40.00 Premiums
Included Encore Movie Pak
$ 6.00 DVR Service Fee
$ 6.00 Service Plan
($4.00) Loyalty Credit

That would make my bill nearly $150 per month once the tax is added in.

Was there every a benefit?

well how much did E charge YOU for a 722 upgrade? Some pay as much as 200 bucks. For just a bit more I bought and own mine. I can cancel and still watch everything on the internal drive:) I can upgrade my internal drive, have done that a lot, my 522s became 625s, I can sell off my old box when I dont want it anymore. could set up a internal drive bay but never bothered, dont have to pay 15 bucks a box to return leased equiptement, theres rumor the 722 will get a new number with a larger hard drive, I can do that
that fee is effective feb 1st. plus doing my own upgrades keep my skills at least a little fresh, and I DONT have to wait for a tech to come do something I want to know about anyway:)

none of these apply to leased boxes. besides if a disaster happened to a lease box your on the hook for its suggested list retail value.

this saved me one day when I tripped and a whole glass oif water flew into my E receiver. It was dead fried.

Incidently I provide faster service than E:)

when one of my boxes die,. usually its a hard drive failure I just open my spare receiver carton right on the shelf with spare LNBs. I am big on redundancy:) Fact is I have 2 SEPERATE 500 dishes, in case one dies. all wired up just plug in receivers and good to go:)

then can decide what to do with the broken box later... no rush no wiife complaints. oh well that day is done.

now is leasing really best?

oh one last big advantage I can complain loudly when they jack up the fee a lot to use my own property:)

If you have the DVR Advantage now you will also lose the $3.00 credit after Feb 1st.
The calculator does not include this. So if it says your price is going up only $1 it will actually be a $4.00 increase.

What is funny about this $3.00 dvr credit is, that last year the price increase for dvr advantage was $8.00. Now they offered that $3.00 dvr credit all last year, so you actually never did pay the full $8.00 increase. This year you will finally have to pay the full price + the whole house dvr fee, which is now $6.00 not $5.98.

The calculator shows a charge / discount for every dual tuner box. no discount for single tuner phone line compliance.....

which can make dual tuner boxes cheaper

If the phone line is not connected there will be a $5 charge even on the first receiver. Choose one 622, uncheck the box and a 2nd tuner fee is applied.

Are we all using the same calculator? It doesn't ask me if a phone line is going to be connected, it asks me if one was connected prior to 2/1.

What I was trying to say ,is that if you have one 622 on your account , you do not get a credit for $5.00 using the calculator. Today you don't get charged for that 622 tv 2 connection fee if it is the first receiver on your account. IF you have two 622s , you will get ONE $5.00 credit for having your phone line plugged in. It shows that way on the calculator too.

There is talk now that existing subscribers who have their phone lines hooked up before 2/1 will get a $5 credit. This is not confirmed though.

If Dish wanted to make it fair they'd make it a $7 credit, as now they're charging $7 for TV2 even on HDTV's - thus I'm paying $9 for a 322 instead of $5...

We'll still face a $7 increase, or 8%, and we're not a "high-end" customer - only one HDTV and DVR on the account.

But, it's better than nothing, and still keeps Dish slightly cheaper than DirecTV.

Is that per box? I would like to think this and other threads are making a difference in there way of thinking. I don't think dish wants these threads to go on for a long time, especially when the new bills start rolling out. I really don't understand the negative reaction to those of us who have the biggest price increase, everybody will benefit in the long run. We are the canaries in the coal mine! Those of you that don't mind price increases should start a thread and call it "The charge us whatever you want thread" and give them your account#. Up to now dish was holding the line against higher prices, now they are screwing up, most likely due to changes in staff or management.

I just figure one as if I had 6 622's w/locals & AEP all phone lines hook-up with DHPP it was 28 increase. that is a bit stuff for those guys. Hope they work out something that helps you on this.

Are the transponders changes permanent?

922 pausing every two to three minutes?
