I am switching to Dish tomorrow and I don't know anything about their recievers. We have two TVs (1 is HD) and we want the HD for life and to be able to DVR in one room. What receiver(s) are standard with this kind of set up and is it worth it to get the protection plan? How much would we expect to pay for these receivers?

A dual-tuner HD DVR such as a 622/722/722k/922 should work for your case. Both tuners are HD and both TVs get access to all channels and recordings, though the TV2 output is SD-only.

If you are able to receive over the air TV, the TV1 output will be able to tune those channels in. The k models require a separate OTA tuner, but that module is a dual tuner. The TV2 output will not be able to output the ota signal when you are in dual mode. In single mode, the same signal is outputted to both the TV outs. In dual mode, each output is independent. To get HD for life, the best way is to sign up for auto-pay.

YAY I CAN WATCH YANKEES OPENING DAY!!!!

REELZ HD Soon?
