Adding mainstream programing is what Dish needed to do and they are on the right track.
Honestly Voom was great, but if Dish lights up a load of HD that has Motorsports, Action Movies and soft porn, then i will soon forget what went before
I will miss UFO, Thunderbirds and watching HDNews but in the end i want all my regular channels from FX and Speed to Military and Comedy to be up there too and i suspect that will sell a lot more boxes and subscriptions then Voom could have done.
They have to turn a profit and sadly what is largely high quality but niche programming will loose to the pulp syndicated sitcoms and fictions. I have yet to find anyone at work who even knows what Voom is/was unfortunately.
It almost reminds me of situations like when Fox cancelled the show Firefly, there were "riots" all over the internet and people swore they would boycott Fox, they wrote emails and letters etc.... but still we ended up with crap that the masses preferred in its place.
It would be nice if they came back, maybe slimmed down, or popped up elsewhere, good luck to them.
Oh well, as he said, its only TV.
