Some good/bad News (Depending how you want to take it)

even with those memos, i'll still be with voom till it goes dark. Then i'll be resetting the box constantly crying for it to come back on. lol

everything else just looks like crap in comparision. direct tv, dish network, and the dreaded adelphia. those are my options. I don't even really care about the Voom exclusives, i don't care about inhd, or hdnet, all i want is known hd cable channels. Espn, TNT, Universal, discovery along with the pay, HBO, showtime, cinemax, stars, etc. Voom is my the only way i can get them all. argh

Luckly i have tuner built into my tv for everything else. I should be able to just plug the voom coax into my TV, and use the antenna that they supplied on my roof right? (i've tested antenna's before, they work, i just want to use that one since its up there).

It is probably cheaper to just pay the employees 60 days pay and close up shop. After all I doubt that employee salaries are a very large part of the VOOM budget.

Scott that sounds very optimistic but I just received the following memo that was sent to all staff.

To: Rainbow HD Holdings LLC Employees

From: Tom Rutledge

Date: March 1, 2005

Re: WARN Notice

As a result of the Board of Directors’ February 28, 2005 decision to close the direct broadcast satellite business, Rainbow HD Holdings LLC anticipates that it will cease operations at its facility located at 11 Penn Plaza, 2nd Floor New York, NY 10001 between March 4 and March 31, 2005. As a result, all of the employees employed by Rainbow DBS Company LLC at this location will be laid off permanently. Because of this, we are issuing this notice pursuant to any potential obligation under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (“WARN”). Under WARN, we are required to give you notice of our intent to layoff employees. These layoffs will result in your termination, and the permanent elimination of your position.

We anticipate that your last day of work will be between March 4 and March 31, 2005. You do not have bumping rights. Please return the attached acknowledgment form indicating you have received this notification to ******, Employee Relations Manager.

It is not easy to deal with unemployment and especially how these corporate entities deal with employees after they no longer need you. I have been down that road before and it is a very uneasy feeling to say the least. The same people that told you how great of job you were doing are the same that won't even let you get your personal belongings without a security escort. A lot of the people that brought us VOOM 21 work at this facility. Do not know any particular names but my prayers are with you. These are very talented people and I am sure they will not be out of a job very long. Thanks for hearing our complaints about VOOM 21 and making changes and getting a better product today.

If my install actually happens on Thursday, I'm in until Indy turns the lights off! :) In the meantime, I'm taking Scott's advice and will continue to root for the home team...wouldn't want to let that cheerleader outfit go to waste!

No...All of the production on Voom's Exclusives is all part of Rainbow (CVC). I hear they share space with AMC & WE

They are all in the same floor. So are they part of the layoff or not?

To avoid a mass exodus of subs...Tom & Chuck would need to make some public statement beyond what was sent Monday. It just seems like a month ago that we were in this same sinking ship. For me, I will hold until the light goes out as well. In my area there is Adelphia and one OTA HD station. VOOM provided the only real HD source.

Maybe someone's got them tied up in a closet.

Maybe the VOOM 21 folks are not part of it. It does say "all of the employees employed by Rainbow DBS Company LLC at this location will be laid off permanently" Guess Rainbow DBS Company LLC is not the same as VOOM 21

Yeah I am talking to myself... ;)

Yes, they are part of the layoff...
Answering your own questions is not a good sign.. grab a beer and relax.
Then come back and go insane rest of us..

Then they are foolish enough to open themselves to the above.

There are probably provisions that exempt this if the whole company ceases operations!!

You cannot collect fines from a company that does not exist nor has assests :D
