Two Hopper Receivers, how to record from one to the other?

I've called Dish four times on this question, and I've spent about three hours trying different "fixes". With out success.

Back story: BEFORE the last major update, my main Hopper receiver in the living room could record three programs at the same time. IF I wanted to record a fourth program I would get the option to record to the bedroom Hopper. It was a very handy feature.

I no longer have that option. If the main Hopper is using all three tuners, AND I want to record a fourth program, then I get a "recording conflict" menu, I no longer get the option to push the fourth recording to the unused bedroom Hopper.

I've reset both receiver back to factory default, and I've verified that the software on both receivers are identical.

Under the DVR screen, under sources I can see the bedroom Hopper, and I can select and view programming. And vise versa.

So, did this "feature (being able to utilize dormant tuners on a second Hopper) go away with the last update.

One CSR was positive that this is still available as she does it all the time on her two Hoppers.

Dish refuses to allow me to upgrade the living room Hopper unless I surrender the bedroom Hopper. But we take the bedroom Hopper with use when we travel in our RV.

Your input is appreciated. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that option was done away with when the HWS got the new CUI. If you upgrade to Hopper 3s you won't have to worry about not enough tuners.

Yep. Dish "stole" that feature away with the CUI. And made a few other downgrades. Such as no 4X FF. Degraded slow motion. But wait! There's MORE!

Don't expect the DVR icon to always match the program name, or either to match what was actually recorded in that spot. And deleting? Don't be too quick, you might think you're deleting A bit if you're not careful and keep an eye on it, it might actually be deleting B.

Thank you for your response. It would be great if the DISH CSR's would know their product. One CSR was "certain" that this feature was still available.

They won't upgrade our old Hopper w/sling to a Hopper 3 AND let me keep our second Hopper w/sling at the same time. We take the bedroom Hopper in our RV when we travel.

Thank again...

Regarding "just going to the bedroom" and recording from there. Yes, that's the work around.

It's just one of those things that I thought was user error on my part, or an incorrect menu setting in the software. Like I said, if first Dish CSR would have told me that it was no longer a feature, I could have saved a lot of time.

Thanks.

Why do something you shouldn't have too?
Dish should have never removed this feature from the HWS7
Not arguing that it was a mistake to not include this feature in the CUI but I would bet that the lack of the ability to push a recording to a second HWS is because:
1) The target hardware for developing the CUI is the H3 (hopper not hummer)
2) The developer was told the H3 has 16 tuners plus originally only a single H3 was allowed per account
-- So the H3 would rarely to never need this capability
3) Whoever developed the requirements for the software developer did not include the ability to push a timer to a second device

Stupid maybe but you have to admit in an H3 world this is an extreme use case.

Just to add to this, remember that the CUI was also designed with the Wally in mind. As far as I know, there is no way to push a timer to a second Wally, either. :(

You should consider an H3 and a Wally. Put a EHD on the Wally for DVR features. The Wally EHD won't be readable by the H3 and vice versa, but it'll be good enough, I'll bet.
