Volume Variation

Are there any updates regarding the volume issue?

This problem continues to drive me crazy. The variance in volume from certain channels to others is quite jarring!

On my tv there is a cluster of 5 rca style connectors, 3 of them are the y, pb, pr connectors, and two of them are the audio connectors. My digitial cable box even came with a component cable that had all 5 cables glued together in a ribbon. I don't think you get 5.1 sound of this setup though, I think you get dolby pro logic only ( a 2 channel stereo steered to 5 channels). I have to use it because my tv's digital out is using my only optical in for sound. I need a new receiver.

Anyway, I'm finding bad variations in sound between the channels too. I really wish I could find a way to normalize all the channels in my current setup. :no

Get a 3in/1out optical TOS switcher from Radio Shack. I had the same problem. You can get one for $15-20

I dont recall ever having any audio problems when changing ch's. Im using the optical out from the VOOM receiver to my Sony stereo receiver.

I have seen the volume variation on our channels but it's not too hard to turn the volume up or down on my Sony A/V receiver.

The variations aren't too bad. It will do it on the same channel.

I went through the entire channel lineup (Basic package) tonight and the volume was all over the map. I could not begin to figure it out, some were abnormally loud, others soft, others in between. I gave up.

RE: [VOOM] Re: Volume Variation

We found a few that are off quite a bit from reference. Those will be
adjusted, however, the vast majority of the services are pass through as
received and we have little control over.
Thing is, the dynamic range of the various feeds is also different, which
yields a difference in perceived loudness as well, so there will always be
some noticeable differences.
Having said that though, there were a few that are significantly off and
we'll do what we can to "normalize" those.
Thanks,
Wilt

Re: [VOOM] Re: Volume Variation

With that said, it is time to put the whole issue to rest for the rest
of us
Thank you, sir.
