[VOOM] Directv to have 24 HD channels?

Look deeper into that, it looks like it will require a 5 LNB system, dish upgrades, and most of the new HD channels will be:

CBS/ABC/NBC/WB/UPN East and West Feeds. However they may be adding the Spice Channel in HD.

I don't like them focusing on HD locals. I already have that with an antenna. Also, Bravo HD is a waste there's nothing much on it, and it is repeated very frequently.

On the plus side, it is a HUGE dish! My HOA will just love it! :yes

Yes D* is finally getting on the cutting edge of this HD programming. If they finally get 24 channels in my lifetime then I'll be able to watch the Monday night CBS HD line up twice!!!

Well if the rumors are true BravoHD may change names, and NBC may dumb more older series on to it in HD like Stargate SG1/Atlantis, Monk, and stuff, from their other affiliates.

Anything is better than the 6 things that constantly loop day and
night. BravoHD is a joke at this point.

I enjoyed the various music shows on BravoHD+ - at least the first couple times I saw them. I'm looking forward to their US Open (tennis) coverage starting on the 30th.

[VOOM] Re: Directv to have 24 HD channels?

Why waste satellite bandwidth for OTA networks? I get all these
networks in HD just fine through my local stations.

Why? FOr the select few that can't get all their local OTA? So that they can advertise 22 HD channels which they will, they will pimp the heck out of it. They will not be like "We now offer 12 HD channels and local network HD east and west!"

If they actually do make 22 HD channels their next marketing run is going to be "Look at our HD-DVR, sign up now, and you can record from 22 HD channels!"
