Purchase a Terk-55 HDTV antenna. It is fairly unobtrusive and adds
a very good qaulity HD/VHF/UHF amplified signal to your system.

Purchase a couple of diplexers (sold at most electronics stores but
you can find them online for a fraction of the cost. I recommend
the Terk DBS-P1 just because that is what I use.

Purchase on good quality splitter. Dont be cheap here, get a good
quality one. The cost is just a couple of dollars more.

Install the Terk antenna as close to the top of your house as
possible. You might want to play with the wall that you mount it on
for best reception.
Run a short cable from the Terk antenna into the attic and inert
into one of the diplexers. Take your VOOM cable and plug into the
other side of the diplexer. Now the third leg of the diplexer goes
down the exising cable to your set. At than end reverse the
diplexer and install the SAT connection to VOOM. On the
cable/antenna side run a single wire from the diplexer to the
splitter. On the splitter run one wire to the Analog input on your
TV and the other to the VOOM set. This way VOOM can map the HD
channels picked up by the set and you can still recieve the analog
signals (yuk).
This solution should cost you less than 100.00 if you show wisely.
There will be poeple that tell you that any off air antenna will
work and that is true, but I recommend that you seriously invest in
an off air with amplification. I know that in my area, it makes the
difference between 3 or 7 HD stations.
