ok that might sound confusing! i have the vip 722 and im adding OTA locals.. i live in LA. what if 2 different transmit number show as the same channel? for example if transmit number 49 and transmit number 22 show as channel number 57, what will happen? will it list channel 57 twice? haha i hope this doesnt sound confusing! i really dont know how to explain. im new to all this!

I assume you are talking about OTA. You can use your favorites to only select the one you want on your guide list. I would think it would show in all channel favorite.

yeah im talking about OTA! :D i was asking because transmit number 49 is channel 57 and transmit number 22 is ALSO channel 57.. one channel 57 is from LA and i used to get the other channel 57 from tijuana, mexico whenever it was really hot.. lol

I'm assuming you're talking about local channels. Every channel slot is used only once. For example, CBS in LA is uplinked on channel 8001. The HD version is uplinked on channel 6307. No other channels on the entire system occupy those channel slots. When you are seeing CBS LA on channel slot 2, you are actually seeing channel 8001 on E* "mapped down" to channel 2 as a convenience so that you can view your locals using their OTA channel assignments. It makes it easier for E* customers to find their local channels. Customers in NYC, whose CBS station also occupies OTA channel 2 is uplinked to channel 8101 on the system and mapped down to channel 2 for NYC customers. No two channels occupy the same UPLINKED channel slot on the system. Hopefully this makes sense to you.

What channel are you talking about? I am not in your area but I think the confusion here has to do with mapping channels.

What are the call letters and SD channel number for what you are referring to? That might help us understand.

He was talking about OTA channels as mentioned in his post above.

i understand the mapping of the channels but im talking about channels that are not from dish.. im talking about OTA channels! the reason i asked was because sometimes i get 2 different channel 57. the 57 channel from somewhere in california and the other channel 57 from tijuana, mexico. i was wondering if both channel 57 would show in the guide data from OTA.

I assume both will show just fine because technically the channel is at the DT channel (49 or 20). It just maps to 57. The LA station is probably KJLA...The Mexican one is XHUAA

I think you will see it twice with different calls, if you find out let us know. I don't expect to have two identical virtual channels in my area anytime soon but always wondered what would happen.

It will only list one, I have the same thing here a 4-1 from Jax Fl and a 4-1 from Charleston SC
It will keep the first one scanned if signal is from both stations.

The NAB should be lovin' that!

Do you mean you have two channels on the same 4.1 frequency? Then this is different from the OP case, who's got two different frequencies with the same PSIP mapped channel number.

One stations is DTV 34 and maps to 4-1 the other is DTV42 and maps to 4-1.
The 622 will not let you have more than one 4-1, you can use 4-1 from one and 4-2/4-3 from the other
