I have to replace my TV2 remote batteries approximately once a month. I haven't had to change my TV1 remote in 2 years.

Granted, my TV2 gets about twice the workout the TV1 does, but this is getting ridiculous. I have had it replaced once already.

Anyone else had similar problems?

The tv2 remote is a UHF remote they use a little more power. If the remote is receiving more use than the tv1 remote you may want to invest in some rechargable batteries.

I did not know that about UHF. Luckily, I work at a distributor where my cost on the batteries are cheaper than dirt cheap.

Same here too. I watch maybe an hour of TV at night or so on TV2 yet replace that once a month as well, while TV1 where I normally watch I can literally get a year without changing. I seem to remember there is a switch under the cover for a high/low power mode for the UHF remote, but not 100% on that.

We encountered this same problem. Called CS and explained problem and they sent out a new tv2 remote. It does not eat batteries. I think I read here in past posts that it was due to faulty remote. Give it a shot.

You have a defective TV2 remote. Search the forums and you will find similar reports. Call Dish to have it replaced again.

Yeah call dish and let us know what they say.

If they won't replace it, it is well worth the money to buy a new one online. It saves lots of aggravation and battery costs. I was going through batteries every 2 weeks before I replaced mine.

They will replace it. I encountered the same problem with the tv2 remote.I asked them if I needed to send the defective remote back to them and they said no.He told me that there were a bad batch of bad remotes that went out with the 622s and that they were going to replace them and pay for the shipping and handling.:D

Leasing the eqp does not qualify for a free replacement.... you need some kind of warranty on the acct.... DHPP/IHSP/ Lifetime .... Even then you need to trouble shoot the remote and make sure UHF interfernce isn't causing the problem either..... Plus look on how much you use the remote...

The bad remotes draw about .5 ma in standby mode. A good one draws less than .5 ua.

Customer reported that batterys last about two weeks.

This may help some dealers.
You can have your retailer check it. Or check it yourself if you have a meter.
I will post a picture if any interest.

how long should a good remote last?

I've had my 622 for about 6 months and the tv2 is starting to say remote battery low

I had a 322 for 3 years and never had to change the batteries

I had this problem too,ate batteries about 1 every 2 weeks. Called dish and they sent me a new one for free. :)

They tried to make me pay $50 for a new one, even thought the 622 was less than 6 or 8 months old. I would think the logical thought is that the equipment should have at least a one year warranty. But they wouldn't honor anything like that. I had to e-mail the ceo@dishnetwork.com address to get any results.

They will rip you off when they can. I still never got my remotes that they said that they would send me. The dang postal service are not worth a darn. I tend to not get my stuff at least half the time and they will not deliver an item that is not insured.

It took about a week or 2 too receive my first remote. Then about a week after that I received the second one. The shipped them both via UPS.
