Why would they want to play in such horrid weather?

and they are the "South Eastern" conference.. Which would indicate they play games in the south.

Whens the last time they went outside of thier conference, like play OUTSIDE of your little corner of the world.
Try going to TEXAS or California for a change if your scared of the NORTH.

I see LSU has chosen that ultra tough "Out of Conference " schedule for next year that the Bucks had to hear about all year long.

North Texas, Troy, TBD (all home games btw.)
These games should get LSU ready for the tougher part of thier SEC schedule.

And the rest of the schedule doesn't look to tough either.

Wait ... you DO leave your state and go to Auburn, you only tough game so far.
Careful Miss State might worry some, but not LSU, then
FLORIDA, probably their toughest game of the year (Oh ya, the "BIG TEN's SECOND BEST team DESTROYED them this year (Michigan)).
Then I see only one other tough game on the schedule that would be Georgia....
Wait lets not skip over anyone in this tough schedule.
South Carolina
Georgia
Another BIG game - Tulane might scare you, if Tulane returnes some players, they may beat you
Alabama, they won't be any good for awhile
Old Miss - see Miss State
Arkansas (Without Mc Fadden)

Yes, I see that Ohio State after losing possibly another 5-6 players to the NFL could still go probably 11-1.

Yup, Tell me how tough you are in the SEC, see you have your schedule set up so you cannot possibly NOT win 10 games already.

The whole year you don't leave your little corner of the year, and from the looks of it, this is a typical schedule for the SEC.

Whats wrong with playing a road game ?
You should be able to BUS to your road games.

Lets see, 8 games are required to be in conference. So that leaves only 4 games left.
Some schools are required (especially the public university) to play the in-state team from another college. ie. Georgia-Ga Tech, Florida-Fl. State, etc...
A tune up game against a minor in-state school is a nicety, as it brings in revenue to both teams.
Don't forget traditional rivalries.
There are only so many games to schedule.

btw, why doesn't Ohio State try to schedule these games against the SEC schools during the regular season. And the regular season games would be in September-early November weather. Not exactly arctic weather at that time.

And who they play during the year has nothing to do with Ohio St. getting their asses handed to them the last couple of years.

p.s., Georgia played Oklahoma St. in it's opening this year, and they play Arizona St. next year, those are outside of the Southeast.
Auburn opened this year against Kansas St.
I'm sure there are others, but so far I killed that excuse for losing.

The Big 10 does the same dame thing, don't forget Michigan vs Appalachian St., oh wait, they lost that one.

Scared of the north? 0 and 9 might I remind you.... 0 and 9

Glad to see someone playing outside of your little corner, I was looking at LSU's schedule when I typed that
As for the in school states ect stating your example, THANK YOU, Ohio State WAS KILLED because of this ALL YEAR (this year).
Playing the SEC and scheduling them ?
How do you know that they are not trying to do that ?
The same goes for you guys, come on up here ......

Buckeyes have a Home and Home with USC this year, Oklahoma the next and just finished one with Texas this year

This should actually be in the NCAA thread, seem the Bucks Tigers thread just WON'T go away yet.

And yet you said the SEC did it, not LSU. Try looking at the conference as a whole. And anyway, LSU still whopped Ohio St., and who LSU played during it's non-conference schedule had nothing to do with it. They were a better team, EOS.

How did it kill them? Didn't Ohio St. get into the BCS Championship game? Were they not #1 at the time? Is it someone else's fault that they didn't play like it?
Playing the SEC and scheduling them ?
How do you know that they are not trying to do that ?
And how do we know or not know who the SEC try to schedule? Are we mind readers into confidential discussion. Like I have just proved, there are SEC teams that play outside the Southeast.
None of this is any excuse for Ohio St. losing. They only one's they should blame is themselves, since it's so hard to admit that just maybe LSU was a better team.

0 - 9:eek:

Reasons:

1. No Snow
2. SECs weak schedule
3. Home game for SEC
4. SEC does not goto texas? california?

did I miss any?
From his last post:
5. Ohio St.'s weak in-state schedule.

and of course my favorite:
6. Ohio St.'s longer layoff (which didn't seem to hurt Michigan).

This thread is turning pretty funny. The Big 10 champion gets absolutely smacked two years in a row by an SEC team and the excuses start. All of a sudden it's the SEC's fault for not playing games up north.

As for LSU's schedule next year, Georgia and Florida will both be preseason top 5 in the nation. Georgia may even be #1. This year, Ohio State didn't even play a team ranked in the top 20 at the time of kickoff.

Colder in Louisiana than Ohio ????

PLEASE .....

I've lived in both places, so I know how each can get. When it drops below 40 down South (and it happens more often than you think), it's biting cold with all the humidity and wind - similar to the lake areas up here. Granted you don't get the snow, but it's damned cold none the less. You'd have to have spent time down there to understand, and you sound like you've never even seen the Gulf.

That said, the point of the post you responded to wasn't that it was "colder in Louisiana" (the actual quote we "AS COLD"), but that the last seven winters I've spent up here have been nothing compared to some I've gone through in other places I've lived (Colorado, and Dallas for that matter).

I've noticed you seem to react to posts rather than thouroughly read and respond at times. ;)

Saying LSU just plays close to home every year is silly.

Most recently, in 2003 and 2005, LSU played in Tuscon and Tempe Arizona (and won both). In 2002, they traveled to Blacksburgh, VA, and lost to VTech. Prior to that, they lost in Notre Dame (barely) in 1998 in South Bend. In the 1990's they had a series of home and home games with Texas A&M (very good at the time) in College Station (several years ago this was an ongoing series). As for the future, there is a home and home series with Colorado in 2011 and 12 coming up. Others are in the works with USC and Oklahoma, as well as a renewal with Texas A&M.

SEC teams contend that their conference schedules are tough enough that they don't really need to schedule marquis out-of-conference matchups. For the most part, I can understand that point of view. Meanwhile, Ohio State needs those high-profile OOC matchups to lend some more credibility to their schedule. This is just the way it is right now, whether we Buckeye fans like it or not. Next year if OSU can beat USC in LA and then run through their Big 10 schedule undefeated, they will most likely make a 3rd straight appearance in the title game (provided that USC finishes strong). I know this would piss off many people, but that's the system we have.

Regarding OSU's chances of running the table next year, they will be better equipped than they were this year. I'm not sure if you guys have been keeping track of who's declaring for the draft, but so far Malcolm Jenkins (CB), Alex Boone (OT), and Brian Robiskie (WR) have stated that they will be returning for their senior seasons. It has been rumored that Lauranitis (LB) and Freeman (LB) will also be returning. All of these juniors would have been day 1 picks in the NFL draft, so this is a huge boost going into next year. The only significant loss so far is Gholston.

PS: Most early 2008 previews have the Buckeyes ranked in the top 5.
