SEC teams contend that their conference schedules are tough enough that they don't really need to schedule marquis out-of-conference matchups. For the most part, I can understand that point of view....

It's the fans that say this. If you look at the conference as a whole, you will see where the SEC schedules as many big games out of conference as anyone else.

PS: Most early 2008 previews have the Buckeyes ranked in the top 5.

I had no doubt that Ohio State would be ranked this high preseason - in fact, it was in one of my previous posts. The reason for this is it's all about wins and losses, and right now the powers that be see the Big10 as a weak conference, with only two teams of any significance. With a full schedule of Big10 opponents, chances are good that OSU makes it through the conference unscathed, especially playing UM at home. Playing USC gives their schedule some credibility (enough to get a nod in the polls anyway), and by playing USC early in the season there is a chance of beating them (USC seems to stumble early these days), or coming back from an early loss.

The SEC will be a conference to watch next year, GA coming off an impressive finish, UF getting older, Tenn and LSU fired up. There is 4 teams that could play for the National title right there..

LOL, so the Big 10 doesn't even get a mention? Illinois, Penn State, and Wisconsin should all be improved next year along with Ohio State. Any of these teams could put together a run and finish undefeated.

LOL; got carried away trying to remember the small conferences and indies, and forgot about the Big-11. I'd drop Wisconsin and add Michigan to your list.

I'd add Arizona State to the Pac-10 list. Rudy Carpenter will be back along with most of his receiving corps. Big OOC game is Sept 20th at home vs. Georgia. I'd also add Clemson from the ACC. Most of the skill players from a dynamic offense return. I'd also drop Tennessee from the SEC (too many coaching changes and a new QB) and add Auburn. Kodi Burns looked dynamic in the Peach Bowl (or what used to be called the Peach Bowl).

You just griped about the SEC not playing in texas now you make fun of them for playing a texas team WTF I dont get you..

0 and 9!

Your right Mich #2 in the Big10 Beat FLA (they were what #4 or 5 in the sec?) Good job.. :)Your number 2 beat our number 4/5 Our #1 beat your #1 infact the #1 team in the nation!

Your schedule next year is WORSE than what the Bucks played last year, so I don't want to hear about it.

0 - 9:eek:

Reasons:

1. No Snow
2. SECs weak schedule
3. Home game for SEC
4. SEC does not goto texas? california?

did I miss any?

I don't know why you keep bringing up the 0-9 ...
That means NOTHING ...

Whens the last time you traveled more than 100 miles from you confernce ???

Exactly, you don't

I live in the here and NOW, not 15-20 years ago.
We are what 0-2 in the last 7 years, back to 2000.

And yet you said the SEC did it, not LSU. Try looking at the conference as a whole. And anyway, LSU still whopped Ohio St., and who LSU played during it's non-conference schedule had nothing to do with it. They were a better team, EOS.
How did it kill them? Didn't Ohio St. get into the BCS Championship game? Were they not #1 at the time? Is it someone else's fault that they didn't play like it?
And how do we know or not know who the SEC try to schedule? Are we mind readers into confidential discussion. Like I have just proved, there are SEC teams that play outside the Southeast.
None of this is any excuse for Ohio St. losing. They only one's they should blame is themselves, since it's so hard to admit that just maybe LSU was a better team.

The Bucks were killed in the media all year over this.
A few play outside the sec, but barley.

I never said Ohio State was better than LSU, you won't see that in ANY of my posts.

This thread is turning pretty funny. The Big 10 champion gets absolutely smacked two years in a row by an SEC team and the excuses start. All of a sudden it's the SEC's fault for not playing games up north.

As for LSU's schedule next year, Georgia and Florida will both be preseason top 5 in the nation. Georgia may even be #1. This year, Ohio State didn't even play a team ranked in the top 20 at the time of kickoff.

That is not true.
I am not making excuses at all, I am simply stating the facts that SEC teams fail to play any games up north ....
It's sickening to see that all thier games are in the freidndly confines of the SEC quarters unless your playing no body.

SEC teams don't schedule USC, TEXAS , Oklahoma, Oregon, OHIO State, Michigan, there 6 top notch teams that you never want to schedule, for some reason.

well Arkansas played USC as our first game in 2005 & 2006 we now have Texas on our schedule for 2 years...... next year is in Austin and i think we will play Texas A & M for a few years too so don't say we don't play them

ok, I didn't look thru the whole SEC schedule.
My thread was actually pointed towards LSU but thats ok.

That's because the last time LSU had a home and home with, uuhhhh, Oh Yeah, OHIO STATE they were 0-1-1.

That's because Arkansas has a pair.

Takes 2 to tango. And as mentioned, SEC teams have played Pac 10 & Big 12 teams recently, and will do so next year. Perhaps the Big 10 schools don't want to play the SEC teams.

That's going to be brutal. 3 of the 4 are in the same division. And LSU plays both UGa and UF. Be some good conference play this year.
