New HD Packages

Thats the announcement from CES (see the date on the article)

The new HD package HD Essentials does start on February 1st.

No new news here unfortunately. :(

Actually, if you read the press release carefully 2/1/08 is only when the new packages begin, but new channels is left generally as 'in 2008'...

I thought we already decided that the$ 10.00 essentials pack would be for the channels in hd that you already have in sd , kind of like Directv's tech fee? The only question I had was would HDnet be in that essentials pack because of the lawsuit thing that DIRECTV had with them. THe ultimate pack would be the rest of the channels + Voom for $20.00. At least I saw photos at the CES show that showed something like that up close. Nothing official yet Scott?

According to masterdeals photo(great photo by the way), HDNET & MHD are included in the HD Essentials package.

HDNet Movies, Universal HD, NBA HD, NHL HD, and the Voom channels (total 19 channels) make up the HD Ultimate package.
For people NOT aware of the CES photo and summary, go to attachment in post #129 in the following thread:

I am SO interested in a $29.99 stand-alone HD pak...especially if you can add HBO, SHO, MAX and Starz HDs for $10, and locals for $5. With 2 DVR fees, plus extra receiver fee that would put me at $62+tax. I'm at $121+tax now, so I really wonder if E* is planning such a thing. Would def keep me from defecting to D*...

Yes this pack alone sounds good to me if I wanted to have both directv and DISH. I could pay for DISH hd pack alone +premiums out of my overtime money I am forced to work each week at the state prison. I could have the total choice dvr plus hd pack from DIRECTV and get the best of both worlds. I can make do with 4 premium movie channels from DISH if they were in hd. I just wonder if DISH would start an hd pack as a hd dvr advantage pack so you could save the dvr fee ? THat would be nice.

That's the only package that I'm interested in hearing more about. Besides a couple of posts, there really doesn't seem to be much "buzz" going on about it...

I'm in the $130+ range right now, if I could pick up an HD-only pak, I'd be all over it.

This package is PURE speculation. Why do people continue to spread this uncomfirmed rumour?

And we will NEVER see the 4 HD premiums for $10.00, maybe $10.00 EACH.

You folks need to start smoking something else......and posting this info less.

For me the essentials pack $10 one would be fine, only losing 2 channels I watch...sometime watch very limited universal and just a little more hdmovies.

Well, a couple years ago you could of got the stand alone HD pak. But it required you to purchase all equipment and do your own install which i did.:D And now I'm grandfathered in.

Nah, i'll keep talking about it/posting about it till february, thanks very much. Agree the $10 HD 4 movie premiums aint prob gonna happen, but exactly what do YOU think the $29.99 HD package displayed in the lower right hand corner of this link http://www.satelliteguys.us/attachment.php?attachmentid=21233&d=1199840918 is about then? It clearly (ok, kinda fuzzily) states "Contains HD Channels Only".
