Its true. Same issue as last year. If you had a big SB party and a 60 " HDTV you probably broke the NFL rules.
I wanted to violate the rules, but I couldn't. My 65" Sony crapped out Friday, and I had to use the 40" set. 
I love that on top of the fact that in some stadiums, you have to buy 'seat licenses' JUST to buy tickets AND these NFL(like other teams) hold cities hostage for a new stadium...they ALSO wanna dictate that you cannot watch a Super Bowl if you own a TV bigger than 55 inches....gimme a F***ING break!

But in all seriousness, I am really getting tired of these franchises and leagues pledging how 'important the fans are' and yet, they STILL help these teams rob and plunder cities out of their tax dollars because the spoiled f***ing rich owners cannot get their way. So when another shlept city get's hoodwinked by the same pledge the previous city fell for, the damn processes starts all over again. And WHO pays....those same 'important fans' that just got reemed. I read/heard last night somewhere that only 40% or so of the Super Bowl tickets got to fans....WTF??!!!
You should see the deal for the new Cowboys stadium and it's seat licenses. Also, the majority of it is getting funded by taxpayers.
I had never heard of this seat license bull**** I had moved to Chicago and started working sports media and the Bears introduced this and I was shocked that season ticket holders ACTUALLY agreed AND paid the robbery. Ceases to amaze me how dumb us sports fans can be when it comes to things like this.
Not that the players are THAT much better, but that is one reason I have ALWAYS sided with players instead of owners when it has come to labir agreements/disagreements.

I did it too. This isn't a law so there is absolutely nothing they can do to you.
I think you guys are reading too much into this; I'm sure the rule is more for something like a movie theatre, or someone selling tickets to come see the game on their larger screen (like a large projector).

First of all, I want to state that I purposely bought a 55" set, in order to stay within the NFL rules....Yeah right. (Actually I didn't have room for anything bigger, that remained in my budget. I have room for a 60" flat screen, but when I bought my set, flat screens were too expensive.
Salsa, as long as people are willing to foot the bill, the NFL will continue to soak them. Personally, I stopped renewing my season tickets for the Lions a long time ago. I just refused to spend money on an inferior product.
F the NFL, I only watched Tom Petty on a 65 inch screen and skipped the rest of the game except for the very end while waiting for House to start.
