Looking at the Pro Bowl on Fox hd through Dish looks upconverted sd. Very bad at that. The guide says hd. I am in the Birmingham area.

Fox sports has always had poor HD. If you have ever watch the world series on Fox you would know the horror that they pass to us. If I had any power Fox would never show another sports event again.

When it is in HD I love some sports on Fox. Beautiful!

Probably logistical problems transmitting HD from Hawai'i to the mainland, maybe not enough satellite bandwidth - Dish and DirecTV have it all tied up in frivolous HD channels. :D

I think I remember last year's game not even being wide screen. Something about not being able to get the HD production equipment out to Hawaii.

I guess it is tough to drive their hd command truck over the water.:D

Watched a little of it OTA here and was definitely upconverted. I don't understand why E* is catching flack here. All they are going to do is transmit the signal they get from the individual networks. They aren't going to go through the hassle of doing anything to it!

I don't think anyone is blaming E*, more of just a general complaint.

The real question is, why are you watching the Pro Bowl :p

Because I'll watch ANYTHING as long as it's HD :) I watched some of the Pro Bowl OTA here, and it was an obvious 16:9 SD broadcast. The Super Bowl looked very nice OTA here last weekend, though. Thankfully, our Fox affiliate has no sub channels to cripple their main channel. . We had a Super Bowl party, and for some of our friends it was their first 'true' HD experience. They dug it. The Pro Bowl wasn't even close. But, in Fox's defense, how many HD trucks do you think would be economically feasible on a series of islands?
