Unless I am way behind the times? Moto 3416 get's a new look in NJ. Funtionality remains the same.

That's the look of the DCH3416 which is a bit different than the DCT3416. The difference is that the DCH has a built in cable card, a requirement of the FCC for new equipment.

Don't bother with the DCH series, it's just a quick substitute until the DCX boxes come out this summer. Can't wait for those :)

MPEG-4, 1Ghz tuner, hawt black color *salivates*

Are there any links to these new DCX boxes? They sound interesting.

As for the DCH, they are worth the trip to the office to swap out for any old DCT's in the house, if only for the improved appearance in the cabinet. I swapped out for a DCH last summer, and have been relatively happy with it. It has 40 more gigs than my DCT. So, that alone was worth it.

I guess I was spoiled with the DISH 622. The quirks in my DCH6416 are driving me nuts. And it doesn't have enough storage to boot.

Months behind, I've had that from Charter cable from back mid last year.

Comcast has been handing out DCH boxes since the FCC separable security mandate mid last-year. Just like Charter and everybody else out there that uses Moto boxes. Just because this poster just recently received one (because of a recent switch from Dish) doesn't mean Comcast somehow lagged in providing the "latest" equipment.

I am just going from experience but check back in early September. I'll be around, you'll probably be here, but there will be no DCX Boxes out there yet. Wait and see.

There was a very reliable rep who said Comcast/Tivo was "coming soon" in 2006. We see how long that took.

Nothing with Comcast is fast. I believe Motorola is scheduled to begin shipping DCX boxes in Q3 2008 which would mean comcast would have to be readdy right out of the gate with these. Considering Comcast just started putting out the DCH boxes a few months ago, I wouldn't bet on them bucking up prematurely for the newer boxes.

Maybe I am just being negative here. I guess we'll see in 4 months.

Once again... quoting directly from my previous post in this thread:

Philly still doesn't have any and the burbs got them in January.

What's with the "once again"?

The first person you responded to with that was talking about the OP being months behind, not Comcast. Defensive much?

Unless Philly has a large stock of previously installed DCT models they should not be handing them out as only already deployed DCTs are the ones allowed to be used as of last July per the separable security mandate by the FCC. Ones that are turned in can be re-deployed. If that's the case then there is a lot of churn going on in that market that is delaying their need to stock the DCH's.

The prior posting I responded to (from Icewolf) was bashing Comcast for not handing out DCHs as soon as they were available which was not true. Where needed (no previously deployed DCTs on hand) they have done so since the mandate took effect.

Not only that...the DCTs they are "reissuing" are not usually working correctly. I have had a few boxes since the mandate and they have other people's series recordings on them and they have all needed to be swapped out. With one (knock on wood) exception.
