Good list, but I'd like to see 'Everybody wants to rule the world' by Tears for Fears from the Real Genius soundtrack on there somewhere.

Simple Minds: "Don’t You Forget About Me" from The Breakfast Club
Lindsey Buckingham: "Holiday Road" from National Lampoon’s Vacation
Kenny Loggins: "I’m Alright" from Caddyshack

"The Neverending Story" from the Neverending Story

.... on second thought, no, that should be the worst list.

Actually, how about Cyndi Lauper's "Goonies (R Good Enough)"

Three of the best in the 80's were from Queen.

Two were already mentioned.

One Vision - Queen - From Iron Eagle
Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen - From Highlander

and...

Flash (Flash's Theme)- Queen - From Flash Gordon.

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
FLASH!
Ahhhhh!
Savior of the Universe!

Lol!

If you're going to do a list like this, you have to consider an iconic meld of song and scene that helped cement a film as a "New Classic" to steal WTBS's label ....

For 80's movies only, combos that accomplished this.....

1. Don't You Forget About Me - Breakfast Club
2. Danke Shein (sp?)/Twist and Shout Medley - Ferris Bueller
3. Moving in Stereo - Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Hell the whole soundtrack was amazing and linked well with the film and it's moods - but that one is the best remembered)
4. Danger Zone - Top Gun (although a few ladies would vote for Playing With The Boys and the volleyball scene)
5. In the Air Tonight - Risky Business ("I hear she likes Choo Choos" - Guido the Killer Pimp)
6. Purple Rain - (another ok movie made brilliant by the musical performances primarily)
7. In Your Eyes - Say Anything (most heart wrenching moment about unreturned love)
8. Eye of the Tiger - Rocky III (probably did more to fill gyms with motivated people than anything else)
9. I've Had the Time of my Life - Dirty Dancing (Nobody Puts Baby in a corner - awful line, but people lapped it up)
10. We Are The Champions - Revenge of the Nerds (Where we all found we had a little nerd in us. Or a lot.)

.... and the worst.....

"Ewok Celebration" - Return of the Jedi. (You've just defeated the Emperor, blown up the new and improved Death Star, and saved the galaxy in the story. You've just completed the most important movie trilogy to a generation that grew up in the 70's and 80's. Darth Vader is redeemed. Han and Leia reunited. Luke faces down the Dark Side and wins.

So you wrap it all up in a bow with.....

Dancing Furry Muppets singing something that sounds like a tribal version of Curly singing Nyuk Nyuk. (shudder)

ALMOST killed the movie for me. ALthough I just closed my eyes and thought of John Willliams score when Luke came after Vader in a rage when he threatened to go and turn Leia instead. The music wasn't even on the first soundtrack album. You had to wait for the Special Edition version 13 years later.....
