When I logged into my account it said under Dish'N It Up an HD receiver for 1 TV was $25 shipped or $75 installed. We have a 1000.2 dish up already so there's no need to have an installer come to disconnect and then connect new receivers, I can do that myself and save $100. I'm possibly interested in a VIP 211. However, when I called Dish and mentioned DIU for the 211 they said HD receivers have to be installed. I said about what I saw on our online account and they said only SD recievers can be shipped. So, basically we either pay for the install or buy the receivers outright. I called again and was told the same thing. Is there anyway Dish will just simply ship the HD receivers? It's pretty misleading that the online account would say one thing and Dish CSR's would say something else.

Dish does require installers to do Vip receivers. Their website has been consisted of errored info for such a long time, most of here don't even look at it for info much anymore. Generally installation may require additional equipment than you already have but if you get someone who knows what is going on or if you hit the right promo, installation fees can get waived entirely. I would try back.
 
I dished up my vip-222 to a vip-622 a few months ago. Had no problem sending it to my billing address. Since my service address is "made-up" for me to get local stations, I asked them to send it to my billing address. At that time, it cost me $50 shipped. No need for installation since I already had a dual tuner.
 
Dish sent me my 622 DIU upgrade for my 625. I did everything myself, including web activation. They did not ask if I needed an installer. Worked great and was really easy. Not sure why Dish treats different customers differently, but they obviously do.

I just did a Dish N' It Up today from a 322G to a 222. They also said that I would need to have them come out to install it. But after insisting that I would like it shipped because the site says you can for $50, and I already have a 622 so there is no reason not to ship it. They finally gave in and agreed to ship it out. Of course this was after spending almost 40 mins on hold.

I have been known to ask, no, demand, to speak to 'Retention' if you do not get satisfaction from the flunkies.
With retention, if you have been a longtime customer play that card. Sometimes they might request to re-up your commit. Be prepared to answer that question in advance.
 
I upped from a 50X to a vip 7xx and installed it myself. They shipped everything needed except the splitter in the back. I called, tech support told me to go to wal-mart and buy a splitter. After 5 more calls, they sent a guy out who swapped the "bad" refurbished receiver they sent me with a new receiver and an upgraded new dish @ no charge.

What receiver(s) do you currently have ? Also, why do you have a 1000.2 dish (guessing your locals are on 129') and does Dish know this is the dish you have ?

I suspect that the "text" that they show is generic and reads the same for everyone.

+1 on a very similar scenario. Just keep on bugging until you get what you want without paying them for installation.

The reason why the CSR couldn't upgrade me via shipping was because their system said I didn't have the 61.5 wing dish for HD (Just 110/119).

I e-mailed CEO and they were able to take care of it. The CEO Rep didn't actually know that the system worked that way, so he asked someone else why the system wouldn't let him ship me a 722. They added my 61.5 dish to my setup and it let him process the shipment. I upgraded 722 + 2x211's. I kept my 721 (which is now a door stop) because I bought it, and the 2x311s went back to Dish.
 
Yeah, I've seen problems like that before.

Last time one of my family members had an upgrade (they had it installed, ceo address gave installation for free after much grief with other problems), they had the installer slated to hook up a DP34 switch to swap out a receiver.

Now...they already had a DPP44 with only 5 tuners, and this was just replacing a dual tuner with a dual tuner and adding a wing dish. So no new switch was required.

So it was never added, but according to Dish's records they are currently running five tuners off three sats and a single DP34. Which we all know can't happen.

So what happens when they get another upgrade? Are they going to write it for an SW44 or something? ;)

Or you can play musical CSR's and get the right one.
