As for best draft, I would consider the 1984 draft the best. However, the 1996 draft is often mentioned among the best drafts along with 1984 and 2003.

The 1984 draft featured:

Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Alvin Robertson, Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis and John Stockton.

The 1996 draft featured:

Allen Iverson, Stephon Marburry, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker, Kobe Bryant, Peja Stojakovic, Steve Nash, Jermaine O'Neil and Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

The 2003 draft featured (my favorite for selfish reasons):

LeBron James, Carmello Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Kirk Hinrich, T.J. Ford, David West and Josh Howard.

If we're talking worst "overall" draft, I will agree with you on that. The only notables to come out of the 2000 draft were Kenyon Martin, Jamaal Magloire and Michael Redd.

As for worst "first round" ever, I will have to say that the 1986 draft was as bad as it can possibly get. The only first rounder to make an All-Star game in his career was first round pick and Cavalier, Brad Daugherty. The only other notables (in the second round), from '86 were Mark Price, Dennis Rodman and Jeff Hornacek. Oh, and one Hall of Famer from the 3rd round by the name of Drazen Petrovic.

Larue Martin ruined a draft all by himself. I'm a basketball junkie and I still don't even know if the guy was black or white.

An ex-customer of mine got drafted just after Sam Bowie. I had to go to the Ritz Carleton one night at about midnight because when he arrived there at about 10:30 PM, he discovered that Comcast had inadvertently disconnected him, and while I don't work for Comcast, the Ritz gives its famous people the red carpet treatment and they knew they could drag me out that late at night.

I had worked out a bunch of Sam Bowie allusions that I was going to try to find a way to drop on him, like, "Don't ask me, I thought Sam Bowie was going to be a steal at number 2", but I was never able to steer what little conversation we made in such a way as to serve as the set-up I needed. In fact, he was too busy puffing on his Havana cigar to say much of anything.

Are you referring to this guy:
