Sea Launch is now preparing for the launch of the EchoStar XI direct broadcast satellite this July. On this mission, a Zenit-3SL vehicle will lift the 5,511 kg (12,150 lb) spacecraft - the measured separated mass - to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit, from the launch pad on the Odyssey Launch Platform, positioned on the Equator in the Pacific Ocean. Built on a Space System/Loral 1300-series platform, EchoStar XI will support the expansion of DISH Network capacity to customers throughout the United States.

i know you're asking scott but if you don't mind remember that the last launch was live on Dish chn. 101. the same where we see the charlie chat. i really hope this goes well! :)

I don't think that DISH has ever produced any HD programming except for the stuff on the demo channels. Doing it from truly remote site like that would be unusual. it would be neat though.

Even the Original Demo/Promo channel was material/loop from WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NC - the FIRST Broadcast HD Channel in the U.S.

The Demo channel's indoor nature video was WRAL produced (was at the end of each loop).

what day is the launch scheduled for? i've seen July, but not a specific date. anyone know?

Whats the purpose of this one? To replace 121?

The E-11 satellite is going to 110 W to replace the E-8 satellite. Dish has applied to the FCC to move E-8 to 77 W as part of the Eastern Arc. In addition, the E-6 satellite is an on-orbit spare at 110 W that Dish has applied to the FCC to move to 72.7 W as part of the Eastern Arc.

Some seem to be off by a day here..

launch schedule - the most comprehensive list of future launches on the web

It says..

July 17: Echostar 11
launcher: Zenit 3SL
launch site: Sea Launch's Odyssey platform in the Pacific Ocean
mission: commercial communications satellite

As I fast forward through this page it shows multiple spy missions! (I would think that would be top secret). But it does not describe Ceil 2's mission at all when mentioned. Scroll down to December.

Also, if you look right under Ceil 2, you will find a launch of Echostar 13 also scheduled for December. What is this and I never saw anything around here about this. Or am I just blind?
