Can I eliminate the video on DVR events screen

On the 625, the DVR Events screen has a window with audio/video of a currently recording event. Is there any way to eliminate this feature?
Inevitably, the show that is recording is at a point that gives away the outcome of a competition or drama which ruins the suspense.
It also takes up a lot of the screen and makes it harder to read the list of events.
As background, I just replaced a 508 with a 625. On the 508 I could easily read the list of recorded events and there was no image or sound from shows that were recording or happened to be playing.
I am using the unit in "single mode". I have been trying to at least figure out how to set priority so that what appears in the video window is not outcome critical. It doesn't seem either TV1 or TV2 is consistently the one that appears in the video window.
Any suggesitons welcome.

I understand what you are talking about, as I sometimes don't want the ending spoiled, etc. What I do is BEFORE entering the DVR screen, I either change the channel from the recording channel to a different channel, or press the swap button and that immediately changes the recording channel to the background tuner channel. Now, the video and audio is showing a different channel than the one recording and no spoilers. The swap button is instantaneous and easiest route of all.

No, I am pretty sure you cannot disable the audio/video while in the DVR Recordings area. Of course you can disable the small video from the EPG, but I don't think you can disable it anywhere else.

Thanks, DishSubLA, but as you stated, the swap only works BEFORE getting to the DVR events screen. We're never watching live TV. After watching a recorded event and erase it, the DVR events screen and the audio/video appear.

Is there a way to make suggestions to DISH about better ways of doing things?

Yes, it's 1-800-BLK-HOLE! :up

Instead of eraesing the event youjust finished watching start the next event you want to watch. pause. then erase the one you just finished. then you can go back to the one you just started without seeing any live tv.

Well, do what I do on occasion: after deleting your DVR recording, immediately hit the View TV button and then the swap button quickly. Both commands happen just about instantaneously. Now, no spoilers.

Quite frankly my suggestions are as good as it is going to get. I would not even expect that by the end of the universe Dish will ever change this. Most people want the video and audio in the corner whenever possible. People love it that the video and audio in the corner are still there when the foray into the menu's many levels.

In fact, it used to be that when one backed out of a stopped recording, to the DVR Recordings list, the video and audio was still the frozen frame of the stopped DVR recording with no audio. Eerily quiet. I think some time last year (well, now I have 722's and not 625's) they changed that so when you stop a DVR playback, then back out to the DVR list, the audio video is of the foreground tuner in the square at top right. I was a bit flummoxed by this change at first, but do prefer the live video and audio.

There are a ton of software and feature concerns on Dish's plate, many of them revenue producing. What you would like just isn't even the last position of Dish software concerns. Every system has its little features to which we must adjust. I don't think this feature is a deal breaker. But I hope the suggestions helped. Sorry.

Great suggestion! I had forgotten that I have done that on occasions, as well.

This only works in Single mode I believe.

I do the same thing but instead of hitting the swap button I hit the pause
button. Sometimes I'm recording two things at the same time, hitting the swap
button just changes the spoiler from one show to another. Hitting the pause
button will also work if the DVR is in dual mode.
