Would you rather the new premium channel additions or the Voom channels

You still don't see what it looks like when you start the poll, declare that it not accurate, and then claim that only hard core Voomers would even vote in it?
:D

I never said it was't accurate. Why do you keep saying that.

Please read the entire post not just the parts that you want to argue with me about. You may find that you are missing something.

It is a small sample but probably close within 10% or so.

Sorry, but it isn't a correct statement.

Read all of the posts not just mine.
I'm not the only one who feels you are claiming the poll is not accurate.

Maybe you think you are being clear in your statements but they are actually somewhat ambiguous.

What is the purpose of the poll and what do you think in means?

AND, you did not answer my question. What does your answer mean in response to Apologist in relation to your opinion about the accuracy of the poll?

People also thought I was making up the multiple account deal also. These were people who commented on the original post from Scott saying so.
;)

the reason of this thread is not to complain about the loss of voom or to gloat over it. There is no other motive then what the question asks.

Also, you never know, it has been stated that Dish monitors the forums. Maybe your vote can count for something the next time dish views some posts.

Like I said before there was thread Turbo vs Voom. The poll spawned from a question that was asked incorrectly. I corrected the question and made a poll.

What I think it means...hard to tell. Unfortunately, the way I made the poll was flawed. Close to half of the people would trade Voom for premiums the other half premiums for Voom. There is a lot of variables I didn't account for ie... people who don't have premiums of course would want voom (more channels). I should have added or more national HD as another option. I am not surprised that 100+ voted for Voom. I am surprised that only 100+ voted for premiums. I would have liked a larger base to weed out the fanboys for either side.

He stated "Even if 30-35% of the HD subscribers want Voom back that is pretty decent #s.

This poll does not represent "the HD subscribers". It represents members of this site. Which include Directv subs, people who hate Dish for various reasons (ie...poor customer service experience) and HD afficandos. It does not represent Dish HD subs as a whole (ie...Joe Six Pack who wants to watch anything that fills his new HD screen all the way). I don't think even if every Satelliteguys member voted we would have the same outcome as if all Dish HD sub voted. I would think the Satguys would have way more votes for voom in comparison. Even though 10% is a big percentage I still think it would be off by a lot more.

I think people are done with Voom polling and didn't bother either way. Forum polls are a good way to gauge how people on the forum feel about something and you design the poll with that idea and background in mind. You are not looking for the general population's opinion but the circle of members that spend time on the forum. THat's when the forum poll has its greatest value and draws the best numbers. This subject has been hashed over so many times and established such strong opinions, the interest is not there for a poll this limited.

Let's stick to demanding OAR from HDVOD...

How about satyguy in the Premiums list?

Hmmm... If I really wanted to discredit a particular group, I would create bogus users and pretend to vote their way and make sure to complain with my legit account that cheating was going on with the other group I am secretly voting with.

We need ip addresses and some tracing.

You really don't like me do you?

If I really wanted to discredit a particular group, I would create bogus users and pretend to vote their way and make sure to complain with my legit account that cheating was going on with the other group I am secretly voting with, but then I would think they would figure that out so I would change my vote and vote for the original group and claim that someone from that group was doing exactly what I originally was doing therefore confusing myself so much that I wouldn't know who I originally wanted to vote for so I would..................................

Or, someone could be setting it up to look like that.;)

Alternative viewpoint - I think someone hacked the site, logged in under other users and voted for voom. (joke)

Sometimes it is what it is.

there is multnomah, mutiname, Iluvoom and my personal favorite imacheater.

Actually that last one is kind of funny.

yup.. kinda funny..... anyway.. I wouldn't really put too much stock into the poll.. other than that it is a poll for fun on a satellite forum. If either side wanted, they could raise their votes. Heck, I'm sure there are people voting that are not even subs to E*.

I enjoyed watching a few of the VOOM channels, and I expecially enjoyed watching some of their unique programming like the Penny Revolution (Equator HD) and What the Window Washer Saw (Gallery HD) series. As a teacher, I used two episodes of Penny Revolution to demonstrate the success of microcredit throughout developing countries. Penny Revolution documented the world of microfinance where the desperately poor, with entrepreneurial dreams but not the financial means, meet lenders who help put their plans into action.

If given a choice, I would prefer VOOM over many of the subscription movie channels.

Spatch,

I believe your poll tends to lend credence to the fact, Voom was of an important vantage, regards to DirecTV and even cable. When you consider cable has free SD and HD VOD, you've got to have some sort of hook, to draw and maintain clients. At this vantage, I see nothing that really puts Dish ahead of the competition.

Your poll has insignificant numbers, but buy SatGuys community standards, it does reflect — there was and is a desire for alternative programming, and it was to their advantage when offering it; distinct, one of a kind programming, outside the mainstream, was, for a while, what helped Dish stand out...

Now, Charlie is picking up the pieces, and believe he's beginning to understand, he really screwed up on a.) programming (killing Voom, dragging his feet on new HD additions; he had the bandwidth, all along), b.) customer service (cutting, outsourcing call centers, pushing too many calls to foreign call centers, exceptionally long cues, uneducated CSRs and TSRs, etc... it's taken its toll)...

There's plenty of room for both Dish and DirecTV... let's just hope there will never, ever be another consideration, for both, to merge as one, as it won't promote that competitive edge, and the price advantage we receive from Dish.

I truly miss the diverse, commercial free programming, Voom offered... it was truly different, and not for everyone... I would have gladly paid $15 per month for the channels v $10.
