Don't you think there is enough HD so far. all you guys are going to do is bitch till they raise our bill's some more. I have 4 DVR's and I still have trouble recording everything each night. I'll never live long enough to watch everything I have recorded. You guys need to get a extra job or something.

I'd rather have my bill raised and get what I want than shell out $150/month to DirecTV and $75/month to my local cable company for TV alone and STILL NOT GET FOX NEWS IN HD!!!!!!!

Also, I have subscribed to all premium channels since the mid 90's from one provider or another. With cable, I have had all the HBO/Max and Showtime channels available (26 HBO/MAX, 16 Sho, 4 TMC + the Starz/Encore channels). I am just tired of waiting around for a bigger chunk of these channels in HD (espeically HBO/MAX).

I don't need an extra job. Running a business, dealing with a brat 11 year old pre teen son, a 9 month old baby, and a wife that is swamped with homework when she isn't working her 40 hour week is enough! But thanks for the suggestion! On a bad day, escaping into the realm of a good movie at the end of the day is all I have to look forward to! At least let me have that in HD. Please!

I know I too have complained on not adding any national channels lately but tonight as I was scrolling thru the channels I had forgotten about A&E and BIOHD channels I know not great channels but tells that we have plenty of HD channels when you forget that ones do exist in the lineup.

I thought the same thing while scrolling through the guide the other day. The problem is, we get a lot of HD that I personally don't watch. As far as nationals, I would like to see Fox News HD and Travel Channel HD, as well as the HBO/Max channels promised in June 2007. If I had my dream list, it would include ID (Investigation Discovery), but I am not sure if they are available in HD yet. I am assuming much of the 16x9 content is down res'd to SD. But we have a lot of channels that don't have much, if anything in HD yet. MTV HD had their awards show, over a year later! VH1 HD??? What have they had?

So yeah, scrolling through the guide shows a lot of HD channels, but they are not the most popular channels that we want. There is HUGE demand for Fox News HD.

I think Fox News would do itself a favor if they started saying, "now available in HD, call your cable or satellite provider today" like they do on Fox Business's SD version. At least more people would call in asking for the channel. Bitching on this site is obviously getting us nowhere, but it is a place to vent.

Get a job Rey!!!!:p

hay!!!:D i think 12 hours a day is enough. :yikes i've been home lately a lot though
with kidney problems so until i get better i must try to raise our monthly D bill
D isn't charging us enough for all the HD:) the idea of all the ppvhd was mine and the higher rates is a new idea of mine too. just raise the prices and the client will feel that they're getting more because they're paying more. D loved it and will implement it "soon" :D

Hello,
Thank you for writing WTTO/WABM in reference to our programming. We at WTTO/WABM appreciate all of our viewers concerns. Please be aware that all viewer mail is read by the General Manager and the Programming Director, and answered accordingly.

WTTO is broadcasting in High Definition. The HD signal can be received over-the-air or on Brighthouse cable. Charter cable, Direct TV, and Dish Network have decided to NOT carry our HD signal. This is not a decision made by WTTO. We recommend you call your cable or satellite provider to request WTTO-HD.

I still find it humorous when I read the posts about people complaining about not getting enough HD or not getting this channel or that one. I'm 56 years old. I grew up with 3 channels that came in .... albeit a bit fuzzy at times... over an antenna that had to be turned to the correct direction to get the best reception. My dad installed the rotator and controls and stuff. He was awesome.

Now I look at a guide that contains FAR more TV than I'll ever watch. So many choices, it still amazes me a little bit. And there are nights when .... you guessed it.... there's nothing on that I want to watch.

How cool is that! heheheh

So.... find a hobby. Read a book. Get off your a$$ and find something to do. I would never begrudge anyone their "escape time" and I am truly not aiming this at the OP as a slam. If you put that energy out there... that there's not enough (of anything).... guess what.... there will NEVER be enough... because that's what you believe.

Have fun. Go out and play. :)

tired of waiting

I, too am tired of waiting for Fox News Channel HD. I just became aware that it is available on FIOS. I called customer service and complained when they said that they had no plans at this time to add this channel! I told them that I might just have to switch. I've had DirecTV almost since their first year. I love the signal but I can't tolerate this!

Please eveyone, complain to them. That seems to be the only thing that works.

Thanks

So.... find a hobby.

This is our hobby! At least one of our hobbies. :)

I am just asking for Fox News HD, Travel Channel HD, and the promised HBO/MAX channels from the June 2007 press release. Is that too much to ask?

It doesn't matter anyway. I have pretty much decided that when FIOS goes live in my neighborhood I am reducing my DirecTV to the minimum until I eat up more of my contract and I am going to get FIOS with all the premiums. They pretty much have them all in HD and they will have Fox News HD as of 10/20.

I have a question maybe somebody can answer. Right now I have the Premier pack with all the premium channels. If I drop down to the lowest package, will I still be able to watch the DVR'd movies off HBO, even though I am no longer authorized to watch HBO? I have this feeling for some reason that DirectTV ties what you can or cannot watch on your DVR to the channels you currently subscribe to. I feel I should be able to watch them since I subscribed at the time and would still have an HD-DVR, but how do they see it? Thanks to anybody that knows the answer.

When I complained and asked for Fox News Channel HD, they put me on hold and told me that I get Fox in HD on channel 13. He gave me my local Fox Broadcasting affiliate, unaware of what Fox News Channel HD is. So I doubt he made a note of my request for the channel. I seriously think that Fox News would help the channel get added if they said on the air, "available in HD, call your provider and ask for America's #1 cable news channel in HD" Fox News doesn't want it out there bad enough, because they aren't pushing it either. Many people don't even know it is available in HD so they don't know to ask.

Yes you can.

And in addition, tell them that the channel you are talking about is the one on 360, NOT the local Fox affiliate. I know the email address to send to DTV, but the other day, I tried to call and actually get a live person at FNC. Its just about impossible. If anyone has a good email address for them please let us know.

The difference here is that when you were a kid, you weren't paying $135 per month for your programming like we are. Also, DirecTV is very misleading in their advertising of the MOST HD since they are counting all the local markets. If you count the national HD, which is the REAL count, FiOS blows them away. I became a DirecTV subscriber specifically for their HD content. If their national offering doesn't catch up to FiOS by the time my contract is up, I'll stop complaning and simply switch. Right now, I'm stuck in a contract with them, so I'll continue to complain.

Nothing I'm about to say is meant to be mean spirited in any way. ...

And since a lot of people are complaining about basically the same thing, I'd have to assume that complaining is not effective in this regard.
Are you really "stuck" in a contract? Isn't there a buyout? (There usually is)
If you REALLY don't like it.... move now. Don't wait. Heck if you're spending $135 a month for TV you can certainly afford the buyout.
As long as you keep paying for something you're complaining about, what you're really saying is, "I don't like this, but it's ok and I can wait as long as it takes so here's my money." You're not being listened to. At least not completely. What they hear on the other end is, "...here's my money."

I live in a rural community now. FIOS is not coming any time soon. I don't think we're even on their radar. I absolutely refuse to talk to Time Warner for cable from past experience many years ago and the service was unreliable at best. So I'm on satellite with DSL. The phone company techs know me by name. In a GOOd way.... in fact I have one guy's cell phone number in case I have problems. They call in the repair ticket FOR me. Perhaps a perk of being served by a small phone company. VERY happy with the phone service. My satellite service is just OK. There are things that I wish they'd do differently. Sometimes when I've complained, they've given me money off on my bill. Sometimes for several months running. Sometimes I have to live with an aspect of their service I really don't like, but it is what it is. I can either effect a change or I can't. So until I HAVE a better choice..... "here's my money" and I move on to things I have more control over.

Call me whatever you want to call me, but in 2001 I died in a car accident. Came back only to spend an entire summer in a wheel chair being hauled around by my 5'-2" wife. Some things are just not as important or inflammatory as they used to be. Got kids? Got a wife? Got a dog?

Go give them a hug when you're ticked off about your satellite service. Which means more to you? What's really important? This whole long story was not meant to be a slam against anyone. And I certainly hope it didn't make you mad at ME! But if it did.... got kids? Got a wife? Got a dog?

I would say that FNC is on about 75% of the time at our house. Since we have to pay for the signal, AND the fact that the station is available in HD, we have a legitimate complaint. I just joined this forum today because it is a DirecTV forum, not a "find a hobby" forum. Sorry, but making an issue of something is often the only way you can get things done.

You're right and I've talked way too much. My apologies.

Done

I would, also, like to receive the HD channels that are available. D* needs to get them up asap. Get those contracts signed. Get the wiring done. Get the testing done. Like someone else said, we are paying for HD so we should get all the HD we can.

I'm afraid that D* has turned the burner down because E* isn't doing much right now and there is no rush.

Now please explain to me why FNC in HD is really wanted by some of us? I've watch other news channels that were HD (only for a few minutes) and what I saw was a smaller window with a lot of text news partially surrounding the picture. Am I missing something? I really want to know.
