Ive been with Dish for 8 years now so I am not under any contract to stay .I have been thinking of leaving Dish Especially after this VOOM fiasco last Summer.I just bought a new HD TV upgraded to get VOOM and then was left with a sad selection of HD Channels (On the National Level).
If Monday nights chat is full of excuses about why new HD Nationals are Not coming by end of year,I am gone.Anyone else feel this way.But I am hoping for a good Charlie chat that will give us more HD channels that we auctually watch.
I would like to add ,it isnt that I dislike Dishnetwork per say,its just the broken promises that seem to be made or just a play on words like "Up to 150 New HD by End of Year".If you dont think its possible to do dont promise. So I certainly hope Charlie Chat fullfill its promises and has some New National HD this month. No more PPV should be added as counted HD.
Well I watched Charlie Chat Tonight and I am very Dispaointed. Not much mention of 150 national HD channels by end of year.Just the possibilities by February.Unfortunately that does not cut it for me ,I along with many Dishnetwork Customers have waited quite awhile, while listening to their "150 HD by end of year'.
I personally will be looking for another carrier starting tommorow,Yes I will miss the good DVR,but I can live without.I want a company that has some honesty and straightforwardness, instead of what I consider lying to the Customers and keeping them in the dark.

Im exactly with you on this. Ever since the takedown of Voom, my excitement for Dish has gone by the wayside.

Im out of contract with dish and waiting to see what happens with ATT. I have Att with a severly scaled down dish. I down graded my dish programming only because of what they did to my favorite programming (Voom)

I have been for the last 5 years a top tier customer. Those days are over with dish.

provides anymore HD channels that have better content? Also, in my view the DVR receivers from Dish cannot be beat

Where is FX HD and Speed HD?

The snide answer to that is "Directv"

Unless there is some action on New National HD, I will probably be leaving in February, when I can see what Kind of deal I can get to consolidate my ATT phone and Data services with Directv through ATT.

Nickel and Diming customers is not helping them stay. This is one of many reasons why they are now losing customers every quarter.

Im also thinking of ditching dish as, i miss monsters hd to much and watching movies on chiller is a nightmare..... If Direct was to aquire voom im outs dont care about the conrtact/better gear and slitly better PQ im out in a flash... I pay for my full Dishnet $140+ and get Direct for free. Im only holding on for voom ... every activation i do i tell CSR that customer is looing for kung Fu and mosnsters as its still listed on many of the chanel list.

Not going anywhere. I didn't watch enough Voom to warrant missing it when it got yanked. And between National Geographic channel, Smithsonian, Discovery and all the premiums in HD, I have more than enough to warrant continuing. I MAY however, see my presence here limited if all the Voom whining continues.

i don't feel the same as the OP. The reason is I really don't see how they can have new HD until Ciel 2 is running. That will be in early 09.

I will be surprised and disappointed if Charlie does not announce new HD programming Monday night on the Chat. My recollection is that he said we could have 10 or so new HD channels in early December; that doesn't mean Dish could get the carriage deals done, but it indicates the carriage capacity is there.

It is certainly true that when Ciel-2 goes live in early or mid-January of 09 Dish will have lots more capacity. I expect as many as 20 or 30 new HD channels on Dish before the first of February. IIRC, Charlie has said that Dish also expects to have 150 local DMAs in HD by the end of June 2009.

Don't forget, Charlie has said that the decision on what to carry is made in part by what everybody says they want. Now would be a really good time to email Dish with your preferred list of new HD channels. I plan to send my list shortly (which is very much quicker than s**n).:yes

Merry xmas,
Fitzie

Honestly, if we are getting more HD I hope its something other than premiums in HD. Just my opinion. I don't sub to them.

I think Charlie had a list of possible/probable new HD channels on his last Charlie Chat, or at least talked of possibles. Without going back to check I know he mentioned some Viacom channels as a possibility, and said Dish was negotiating for (I think) FX and Speed. I think he might have also mentioned some premiums, which would be fine with me since i do subscribe to them and the quality on the HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz channels is usually good. I'm hoping for a call on ESPNU-HD tonight, or at least a projection.

Regards,
Fitzie

Don't expect new programming announcements because the only one that will be announced is the Golf/VS split. Charlie doesn't announce programming till AFTER it launches (u never know when a last minute price fight might occur)

OMG! PLEASE NOT ANOTHER VOOM THREAD!

They are gone, people. The last time I checked, they've been gone for a while. I think people are sometimes too informed on here (not a bash to this site, because I love this place)... Let me explain. 75% of the people on here probably would not have even noticed Voom was gone unless it wasn't posted 50,000 times. There was VERY little I watched on Voom because of all the freakin' repeats.

Yes, E*'s CSR suck.... Yes, the prices are a little high, but what isn't nowadays... And their DVRs are awesome... That is good enough for me given the choices between providers.

Do us all a favor and stop hoping complaining about channels, lame ones might I add, that have been gone for awhile. And if you feel you must fuel the fire, there is already a thread that I think is 140,000 pages long, and those guys will surely accept you into their pity party with arms wide open.
