Place your bets...7 new TMP HD channels at 110.

Hemi, to be fair, the 150 channel part of the discussion was brought up by , from what I gather, an E* sub fairly early in the thread. I personally dont see a problem with discussing the marketing side of this because it relates to what people THOUGHT they were going to get when the thread started, whether it was founded in fact or not.
The main topic was about 7 Open HD spots on the 110, and what do we think they may put there. Because one poster doesn't want to follow the rules and complain about not getting 150 HD channels ,still doesn't make it OK to have 3 pages of bickering OFF TOPIC. Sorry but I like to read what people want and think the 7 channels might be. Not 3 pages of pissing and moaning.;)

I'm not doubting that at all , But I remember the days where its just back and forth over nothing 10-15 pages long . Thats fine in the War Zone Or someone just start a new topic and let the mods decide where it should go.

Back to topic:

My bet is more Showtimes, because DISH has always been the leader in Premium Movie Channels.

What would that mean, and could it change what scott had posted?

I'm not sure what Scott posted.

It just means that the engineers have not filled the video streams with any content.

They could fool us all and fill it with duplicated content that is already up just to test the encoders if they wanted.

Speculation is fun.......the hint on the next HD offerings were posted on the Charlie Chat monday night. Why speculate any other options? Most of those new picks were announced months ago. 'Course speculation IS fun.

I really hope that's not the entire list. Insanely weak and not much REAL HD there in my opinion. I would like a few things we don't already have in any way along with some other sports HD.

Which is exactly what I initially posted, but was jump on by a certain someone.

Now why would anyone want to do that? After all, you post in the E* forum with only the most honorable of intentions. You have a clear vested interest in E*'s direction as a company, and a clear commitment to E* subs and their interests. Why would anyone question your motives when posting negative news in an E* forum? After all, if you honestly wanted to cause trouble, gloat, or just plan bash E*, we have a warzone for that of which you frequent often, you would have NO need what-so-ever to commit such attrocities here...you're just posting your news out of the very goodness of your heart. Thank you, and I'm so, so sorry for any personal grief that 'certain someone' may have caused. :)

Go with God, Curtis...

Agreed, Hemi...I just can't help but think that as long as I don't go into the warzone, that the warzone will inevitably come to me... ;)

Or at least thats been the trend...

Wow...I never thought I would ever say this...but I agree with Curtis...

It makes sense from a financial point of view...while E* may not have a lot to go on with regards to attracting new subs, it does make sense for them to do everything possible for customer retention. Given that your 'premium' customers tend to be your bigger spenders, it does make sense for E* to offer their current customer-base more 'HD Bang for their premium buck' with the hopes of at least keeping that customer-base content.

There are enough HD consumers out there who value their premium channels enough to pay for them, so there has got to be enough of them out there to make a business strategy centered around HD premium channels work...

Makes sense...

I already placed my bets (and was one of the many people who guessed correctly about the lack of new HD), but all of this talk about new HD might be moot in a few weeks... What if the actors follow through with their threats and go on strike?...

god actors are getting pathetic now last year they went on strike and messed up the damn tv schedule and what now they are doing it again way to go selfish actors.

Especially since they have been offered the same deal as the writers got after their strike, and every other guild has accepted.

NPR made a good point this morning as to why a strike might happen. Two thirds of the actors in the guild are unemployed right now anyway. For them, why not vote to strike?

In all fairness, most of the actors are not the rich ones we usually think of. A lot more part timers with brief guest spots on some shows, barely getting by.

I understand that point, but it is also just horrible timing to try to push through with this. Even the most iron fisted unions are backing off from demands right now, because of economic conditions.

I swear I will give up on television if it becomes another writers strike like last year it made a few of my favorite shows be canceled and then most of the shows had to cut 5 episodes out last year that was so bad.

Well now that the other satellite launch was successful, maybe this will get DISH to announce these 7 channels sooner than later?
