Slingloaded HD DVR922 at CES

I have to disagree...this is basically a 622 on steriods with a slingbox jammed into it, a better GUI, and a few really cool new features. I get the feeling this is one box that could actually materialize by the summer. On the other hand, I seriously doubt E* will be ready to "test" their tru2way cable version in the spring.

I really hope you are right. Guess I've just learned with E* to temper my excitement. :up

According to the SlingGuide press release, the 622, 722, 722k and 922 will be supported. I presume this means that they'll support scheduling but viewing will require the 922 or one of the above plus a Slingbox.

For remote viewing, yes.

That said, where DishOnline fits into the whole picture remains unclear. Perhaps strictly as the portal for their broadband content?

It is history. The SlingGuide should be able to do them all.

I find it amusing that "sling guide" is promoted as revolutionary technology when Tivo has had online scheduling for years.

omg. i want one! :O it looks so cool and i love the guide with logos. i don't know how i feel about the remote though. i would have to try one.

Yeah, I am not buying the notion that a remote without numbers or a directional pad is a good idea... I hope that a universal remote with numbers and a directional pad will function with this... like my Harmony One :)

I almost never use the numbers on my 622 and 722 (maybe twice in 2 years), nor did I with previous receivers, so I won't miss them. I use the guides to set recordings, and I watch almost nothing "live."

It won't work though. I signed up and got an account setup but apparently you need to have a Beta Account with Dish Network. That is what the Dish Technical folks said. You need a special version of the software on the receiver in order for this to work and they said you can't just sign up to have a Beta Account.

Not necessarily. I signed up at work this morning, and immediately got an email back with activation info. Just finally had time to follow the instructions here at home, it asked for last 10 digits on my account...sent me somewhere in the menu at which point it my 622 generated an activation code to enter in the website, I entered it on the website, and lo and behold, 30 second later it connected to my 622 and listed all my current DVR recording.

...and I've never been in their beta program at all, though I do have the newer s/w ver. L616 on my 622.
