Besides the new markets added in HD today to Dish Network the following cities also got additional HD locals which were not available before.

Those stations are as follows:

Abilene, Texas – KTXS ABC Ch. 12
Wilkes Barre, Penn. – WOLF FOX Ch. 56
Lincoln, Neb. – KHAS NBC Ch. 5
Albany, N.Y. – WXXA FOX Ch. 23
Chattanooga, Tenn. – WRCB NBC Ch. 3
Syracuse, N.Y. – WSYR ABC Ch. 9
Greenville, N.C. – WFXI FOX Ch. 8 and WCTI ABC Ch. 12

Scott - While all the channels you listed are additions, they are listed as not available (NA). If I understand correctly, that means they were added, but no one can get them.

Either I am wrong, or you are dangling that carrot again!!!

Lycoming county (at least anywhere near Williamsport) and a lot of the rest of the DMA is out of the spotbeam for the DMA, so we are out of luck for HD!! Double whammy since we are also too far for OTA.

Scott,
Is it possible that the stations you cite were only uplinked in HD because their analog versions were "switched" off? I will check for WXXA when I get home, but I have a bad feeling that it is just that. WXXA was uplinked with all of the other Albany HD locals last spring, but never went live and was eventually removed along with WRGB CBS 6 because of lack of retrans agreement for the HD. Now I believe the SD versions were on 110 so maybe they are adding it. We shall see.

Cool! Each addition means mine gets closer and closer (currently listed for "after March 2009").

Not related... If anything, Dish will take the HD channel and down-convert it to keep providing an "SD" feed to customers. The analog shut-off doesn't mean everyone will all of a sudden get HD-locals in place of SD locals.

Scott are these new HD channels available because of digital transition on Feb 17th?
I'm waiting for our local Fox in HD, which just went digital on the 17th.

Are the good folks in Lycoming County actually going to get Fox56 or are there going to be "technical difficulties" with this channel too?

Hey, I'm in this area too! Yeah it sucks we get all these channels, and yet they don't work. Anyone know when this problem will be fixed? All dish needs to do is widden the spotbeam. And yes, there is no OTA, so we can't get that either!

Who's going to take a ride to the satellite and fix the width? 22,000+ miles is a long trip.
