A FOURTH-STRING TOURNAMENT?

This is the only way St. John's will play March basketball for a while (No offense, Sandra).

One thing that caught my eye:

Ohio St. and Cleveland St. are playing at the same time, 9:40 ET on Friday night.

I wonder which game the CBS affiliate in Cleveland will choose? Can they farm out a game to another Cleveland station or RSN? If they can't, Cleveland St. would probably get the nod in Cleveland over Ohio St.

Maybe our Cleveland friends, HD and Skyhi can shed some light on this interesting situation.

There may be other conflicts also, but the Cleveland one stood out to me.

BTW, thanks for posting the times ehren. :up

Go whatever Northeastern's middle name is!

Beat them pokes!

Huskies.

That's where Jim Calhoun cut his teeth as a head coach before going to UConn.

Also, the late great Reggie Lewis played there. His performance against Villanova, in that triple OT NCAA second round game, was one for the ages!

FWIW, CBS announced their announcer assignments:

Thursday's games:
Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg- Greensboro

Dick Enberg (will call 2 games)/Carter Blackburn (will call 2 games)/Jay Bilas- Philadelphia

Tim Brando/Mike Gminski - Kansas City

Kevin Harlan/Dan Bonner - Portland

Friday's games:
Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery - Dayton

Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel - Miami

Gus Johnson/Len Elmore - Minneapolis

Craig Bolerjack/Bob Wenzel - Boise

I noticed that immediately and it really sucks. :( Hopefully, one of the games will be on WUAB (the cbs affiliate's sister station) or possibility OTA only on the CBS affliate's digital subschannel. I *really* hope they let us see the Vikings game in its entirety. (I know, be careful what you wish for :))

I noticed this. Not too happy either. I will be checking into the local TV coverage for this conflict and will let everyone know when I find out.

Sky, what do you think about CSU's #13 seed and their opponent, Wake Forrest? Is there any way we can legitimately think about an upset? Wake is tough.

I don't know. My heart says yes, but my head.......

Who knows, though.....there are upsets every year. Thats why they play the game.. :)

Wake is talented enough to reach the FF, but they have played like crap lately away from home, and they have no answer against a zone defense. If CSU can slow them down and force Wake to make outside shots there's a chance. I think Wake wins this one, but loses in round 2.

tOSU or Cleveland State?

There is more than 24 hrs of first round coverage between Thursday and Friday and they schedule both of these teams to be on at the same time. Collectively, Ohio NCAA fans have been pulling their hair out for a solution.

Now, my sources are telling me that we might be able to chose for ourselves!....

A parent is never supposed to confess which child is the favorite. But unless WOIO Channel 19 gets a little help from the network, the local CBS affiliate might have to decide which college hoops team it prefers -- Cleveland State or Ohio State.

In the unfortunate planning of the NCAA Tournament, both teams are scheduled to play at 9:40 p.m. Friday, Cleveland State is against Wake Forest in Miami, and Ohio State is against Siena in Dayton.

In the eight years that Channel 19 programming director Lisa McManus has been at the station, she has never had to decide which team to broadcast -- the local upstart team or the beloved state powerhouse.

"Luckily we might not have to deal with it," McManus said. "It's difficult to think of trying to figure out how to handle it."

Because WUAB Channel 43 is a sister station, McManus hopes that one of the games will be televised there, assuming CBS gives the OK.

McManus said she called the network early this morning to alert them to the conflict, and expects to hear back from them this evening.

That solves the problem for TV, but one issue remains: If you're both a Cleveland State and Ohio State fan, which game do you watch?
