Does it really matter? Other teams have been independent in just football before.

Or is this just Big Ten animosity because they refuse to join?

The SEC is primed to add Texas and Oklahoma. How will the Big Ten respond? Notre Dame is the biggest brand left, but don't count on that marriage happening.

ND Will join the Big Ten when FSU comes on board as well.

In 2-3 years ND will be there, probably begrudgingly ... but they will be making much more money ...

Once the former Pac-12 teams discover what they'll be up against, they'll wonder if it was worth the TV money.

Conferences shouldn't be so large that the season isn't long enough for every team to play every other team in the conference.

Getting to the point, they are so large they can't play everyone in their division in the Conference!
