MLB 2009 Season

And you know something, if you're NOT either a Yankees or Red Sox fan that must get frustrating. I admit if I weren't a Red Sox fan it would probably piss me off too.....I ADMIT THAT!

But I always come back to the same question:

If Red Sox/Yankees games didn't do well ratings wise, would the networks continue to show their games all the time?

No offense to anyone, but that question NEVER gets answered.

Answer your own question .....
yankees haven't won anything in what 12 years now ?

It all comes down to the rivalry.

Sorry, but that doesn't answer my question at all:

If Red Sox/Yankees games didn't do well ratings wise, would the networks continue to show their games all the time?

Q. why do the yankess do well in the rating when they haven't won anything in 12 years ?

I think that's a very good question, and one unfortunately I don't know the answer to.

But the fact remains, they do tremendously in the ratings whether we like it or not.

I suppose alot has to do with the local ratings and the HUGE amount of population in that area.
I wonder how thier ratings are outside of the NE corner of the country ?

I agree where they play has a lot to do with it, but ratings are ratings no matter where you're getting them from.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration if you live in the South, Midwest or West and are force fed these teams all the time.

But again my thing is, if you're a network exec, wouldn't you be considered incompetent if you didn't schedule games that brought you higher ratings?

I really don't mind the yankees being on, it gives me someone to root for !

I couldn't care less if the Tiger's aren't on national TV. Doesn't change the outcome of the game. As long as i can see them on TV, I'm happy.

I agree :up

I saw on the season preview show that FSN Detroit will have 156 games this year, 115 in HD ... I'm sure the ones that are not in HD will be due to schedule conflicts when they are pushed to FSN + (664 on D*) when the Red Wings and or Pistons are playing in the playoffs. (Pistons may or may not make the playoffs) I suppose that could add more games to the HD line up over all.

actually 120 games in HD if you count the scheduled FOX Saturday Baseball ones. Also ESPN could pick up some Sunday games if they want to so that could be more...

there name is officially Fox Sports Detroit / Fox Sports Detroit Plus now too btw....

Yankee fans are nationwide. I've seen more Yankee hats than any other team represented whenever I go to different states or travel.

Before the Phillies and Braves open the 2009 MLB season, I'd like to take this time to wish all of the Baseball fanatics here on SatelliteGuys a healthy and fruitful season! Good luck to all your teams. May the best team win!
