Mark Fidrych has Died

Another death in baseball- wow.

KCK's right- there IS a dark cloud hovering over the sport.

This is really going to hit home for the Tiger fans on here.

Condolences to his family.

I know maybe KCK is right. What the hell is going on? What's sad is that the 3 tradegies that have happened have been no fault of there own. The 22 yr. old pitcher from the Angels, I get his name confused, which is why I'm not going to say because it might the wrong name, died because of a drunk driver. Harry Kalas collapsed and Fidrych died, I think, because he was working on his truck and the truck collasped on him, I think. What sad stories.

I just want to curl up into a little ball and hide in the closet till the 4th of July! I have truly lost ALL of my fan interest in this season.

All of these deaths at once...and all of them are sudden deaths. Think about that, guys.

Truly are sad stories but Im still going to enjoy baseball. Citi Field is opening up tonight and Im going to enjoy it. KCK, I do understand your point about curling up until July 4th but I like to watch Baseball to get away from all the sad stuff.

Oh God, I loved "The Bird".

He of course, was made famous with the Tigers, but he also pitched in the Red Sox system and is a Massachusetts native.

I don't know what to say at this point, I'm just numb! :(

R.I.P. Mark

Mark had a very short career in baseball but he got lots of attention in that short time. I thought I saw him pitch in a Red Sox Uniform but I might be wrong.

Right now, baseball IS my sad stuff, though. I think getting the team on the road has helped a bit. But until there is the finality of Nick's funeral there will be quite a funk around here.

KCK, your a good baseball fan and good poster. Eventually, I hope you get your heart back into baseball.

I am too young to have seen him pitch, but have seen some videos from the 70's. Real wacky guy, but fun to watch.

A true shame that he died so young, 54. RIP

Same here, everytime he came back thoough for a function, or for the closing of tiger stadium he always had great things to say. I remember watching during the closing festivites of tiger stadium he grabbed some dirt from the mound and put in a zip lock bag, it was an emotional night for him, as well as others.
