To those of you who said a BBB complaint was stupid and worthless...

@claytonboen

Not wanting to sound like a baby, but...

I am curious about your Cancel DISH network site. CANCEL DISH NETWORK I just checked and it is still up and running. What is your position? Should people cancel? Should they complain to BBB? Should they switch to a plan that has the channels they want? I am just wondering, since it is not exactly clear.

What is not entirely clear is what was his complaint in the BBB claim? I thought he had a lot of installation and technical issues, and what made him to conclude it was the BBB claim that led to the solution, not his website and blog?

Receiving $20/mo. off for many months of course is a very good deal, but people get similar deals by calmly discussing or complaining to E* also. While I certainly am happy for him and for E* also to retain a customer, I don't think his way of solving the issue is the best as he thinks it is.

Like some others said, one can reach a reasonable solution without all the high blood pressure pumping for days or weeks.

Why, why , why why? I have asked in other threads as well, but NO ONE can show me where it says that ABSOLUTE customers should not receive new HD channels. I was told I would when I signed up, and have not been told any different. I think it began as an assumption when the package was no longer offered and then people accepted it as fact.

Thank you!!!!!!!!, I have been saying the same thing for several months now and to add to our case we have received 4 new channels since the 1st of the year:D I think this came about when Charlie (on one of his chats) said "HD Absolute would definitely continue to receive channels through the end of the year (2008) He did not add anything to that statement and I think everyone decided that it meant that we wouldn't get anymore after the 1st of January 2009. However, no one at DISH has ever told me I wouldn't, and since I have continued to get some of the new channels, I continue to believe that I will. Grandfathered just means that no new subscribers can be added to that package and if you leave it, you cannot go back to it, however, you do continue to receive the same terms on it that you always did. IMHO

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I was beginning to think I was losing my mind and nobody knew what I was talking about!!! Everyone just keeps saying ABSOLUTE should not receive anymore channels, and they ignore me when I ask where that information came from. Good to know there is someone that gets what I am saying.

I commend you for fighting what you believe in. Just like Scott said if more people did what you did then we would get what we want. I still think though you were a jerk in that chat. You should have just went to the BBB instead of acting like a fool with that CSR.

Enjoy your channels sir.

This must be a different Clayton, becuse the clayton we know cancelled dish and is only going to feel better if others cancel dish network as well. he is the author of a new blog website about that very topic.

You may have been given a call by Dish because I called politely and told them to do me a favor so you'd quit complaining about being given the same package and pricing as everyone else in the world is offered. :)

---
Seriously though: I didn't think you were really going to quit - so since you didn't - are you going to take down the anti-Dish blog site?

How can you possibly stay with such a horrible company? I thought you were going to quit DISH immediately and encouraged others to do so also.

He got what he wanted because he acted like a little baby and was very rude to the CSR. This is not a victory.-

So when are you and Dish Network getting married? You two are obviously in love.

Wow, I am actually pretty upset now. I have sent a ton of emails to Dish about the confusing policies of TurboHD subs not getting the same HD channels, and haven't had them budge at all.

What Clayton got is exactly what I want, to have Fox New HD and the other three Viacoms.

Hmmm, now I am wondering if I should file with the BBB. Suggestions from anyone?

I admit it I do like DISH network. Great values. Great DVRs. They have problems like every big company, but they also deserve credit for a lot of their efforts.

This guy was rude to the CSR, put up a website encouraging others to cancel Dish and now is staying with them because they are giving him a measly $20/month payoff. He deserves to be called on it.

Well, I complained about this to a E* CSR (hopefully respectfully) and they bumped me up to the Classic + HD Bronze and gave me a $10/month credit for 5 months, so I am paying $4/month to get Fox News HD, MTV HD, VH1 HD, and Nick HD. I will take that for now, and hope that by September they change policy on this crazy thing.

The only channels HD Absolute doesn't get compared to "Gold + Platinum" is Encore (unless you live in Big10 country).

It's the closest comparison to see, since there is no list published for channel availability on HD Absolute

They offer that at a published price, you just have to subscribe to Classic + HD, or complain.

I can certainly understand fighting for what you believe in. But in this case this does not change my mind at all. Just because Dish decided to take the "Customer is always right" approach does not make you right. Probably you have succeeded (along with others -not just you) in getting something you don't deserve, and in return making me pay a few cents more ......
You showed your true colors by not dropping Dish, staying with them , while urging others to drop them.

We don't even know exactly what did he complain to BBB. In his rants, he seemed to complain about his technical problems with the DVR and how the installer, or the subsequent repair persons wronged him.

There is nothing BBB can help if E* did not promise a service which you now think you deserve. Although it is certainly anyone's right to file a BBB complaint.

My only real complaint to the OP is that this didn't deserve another thread. This update could have been posted in his original BBB thread.
