To those of you who said a BBB complaint was stupid and worthless...

Less than 48 hours after I filed the complaint a representative from Dish Network contacted me.

They were very patient in listening to my complaint. Although I did get the feeling they really don't care that they screwed over the TurboHD subscribers, they were interested in making amends with me.

They enrolled me in the same metal SD tier I subscribe to, added HD, and are giving it to me at the same price I am currently paying.

So, for the record. I now receive all the Viacom HD channels as well as Fox News HD without spending a cent more.

The complaint to the BBB worked.

I know I'll be attacked in this post, just like last time. Just so you all know, I won't be responding to them this time. I put this info here so that anyone else currently enrolled in a TurboHD tier knows that a complaint to the BBB worked to solve my problem.

Way to go...and I know you FEEL better and that is what counts most.

How can you possibly stay with such a horrible company? I thought you were going to quit DISH immediately and encouraged others to do so also.

Bingo you should always fight for what you believe in. I do wish more members would take action like this as they would help make the service better for all.

If we band together we can move mountains.

Way to go Clayton!

He got what he wanted because he acted like a little baby and was very rude to the CSR. This is not a victory.-

I doubt absolute HD customers have a leg to stand on but I do feel Turbo customers got screwed with the Viacom and FoxNews channels.

He suceeded for sure, but we don't know what the deal really was, at a $20/mo. off for as long as he is an E* sub?

I used to call E* every once in a while and get anywhere from $15 to $25/mo. off for 6 months or a year, without having any complaints nor the need to file a claim with the BBB.

All I did was to point out that D* was offering such discount, and ATT, or Comcast was doing this promotion.

The way he acted, and the kind of injustice by E* he had portrayed, I agree he should have left E*, not taking that $20 off deal. Make a stand:)

Hey Clayton, you're going to have to take down your Cancel Dish Network blog!!!

I did consider leaving. The only problem is that they NEVER would have let me out of my contract. The representative even stated as much.

To answer your question I get the discount for the life of my contract, so at the end the choice is left up to me.

Why, why , why why? I have asked in other threads as well, but NO ONE can show me where it says that ABSOLUTE customers should not receive new HD channels. I was told I would when I signed up, and have not been told any different. I think it began as an assumption when the package was no longer offered and then people accepted it as fact.

To get out of a contract with Dish, don't you simply pay about $10/mo for what was left on the term?

Wow. Happy for you man. Feel free to rub it in more to the people who thought nothing would come of it and you were wasting your time. I mean, regardless of your position, he ended up with EXACTLY what he wanted; this happens to be the exact same thing I want...

@claytonboen

Not wanting to sound like a baby, but...

I am curious about your Cancel DISH network site. http://www.canceldishnetwork.com/ I just checked and it is still up and running. What is your position? Should people cancel? Should they complain to BBB? Should they switch to a plan that has the channels they want? I am just wondering, since it is not exactly clear.

The complaints should be made via BBB toward the NETWORKS that essientially force dish into contracts that end up screwing us the customers in the end. For example, dish would have many more al-carte channels (like Canada market) if the networks were not so greedy. We would also have more distant network & local options too. etc. etc. I imagine that much of the HD upgrade crap has to do with contracts. Dish has to be able to make money--no bail out for them if there are bad decisions.

you could have gotten the same result by telling them you want to cancel. They would've sent you to the retention department and you probably would have received the same deal. All without starting a website and raising your blood pressure.
