Dish price increase (which was announced back in August)

Thats to cover thier FLOCK dealings 🤔 :biggrin
To be serious, it is to cover the increases in per sub fees from the broadcasters/cable channels.

You would believe those same broadcasters/ cable channels would quit raising the fees, since they are producing less and less new content and the vast majority is reruns that has already been paid for or extremely inexpensive to air.

This is not against Dish or any other provider, if you want new scripted content, you have to subscribe to the streaming services.

Sooner or later, providers are going to have to stand firm during contract negotiations, say there is just not much value for certain channels any longer since the content is not there, lower the fees or drop the channel.

The other issue, all that new content ( series/sports/movies/etc) for Broadcast/Cable Channels is also on the streaming services, either same or next day, so they are getting paid twice for that new content, you would believe that should help lower the fees for providers.

Pretty soon there won't be any cable providers as it's outdated tech. everything will be starlink and wireless 5G. and fiber

Not seeing the confusion, article explains all of the context right there.

The September adjustment follows a pattern of periodic revisions. Industry tracking has recorded roughly $5 increases on major English packages in both September 2025 and September 2026, layered on top of earlier steps that lifted America's Top 120 from the high $70s in 2023 into the mid-$90s promotional range and then into the current everyday list above $100.

It has always amazed me how many people think that youtubing is a job and that they will become millionaires off of it. sure some have but not many..

3100 videos, almost 400k subscribers, all news videos uploaded this week range between 14k and 90k views.

Doubt the guy is a millionaire, but he's running a successful site and channel.

I have a friend running a comic book channel, while not a millionaire, it pays more than his IT job he had previously.

My Mom called me tonight complaining about the new rate increase. I had to remind her I don't set the price OR anything else that has to do with Dish Network. Said her bill is now going to be over $200/mon.
I honestly don't believe (and backed up with my experience when dealing with these folks out in Denver) the heads of these companies have any idea who much this is costing customers in relation to their income. The folks out in Denver are making millions....most of their customers aren't. Sad but true.

While I absolutely do NOT excuse this ever increasing charge for local channels, at least E*'s is LESS THAN HALF of what Comcast here charges for locals! This past December, they increased from $30.50 to $40.30! But a couple months ago, they did actually slightly lower them, but they're still currently $37.00. o_O And we ONLY have 6 commercial TV stations here locally being carried!
And let's not even talk about our RSN fees, of which E* is one of the very few legacy TV providers to NOT charge this at all...

Get her on Wallys, an OTA antenna and the retention plan. I pay $51/mo for Flex and news pack. OTA and DVR are no additonal charge.

She's 85 and likes the package she is currently on and is used to way her H3 works. If you dealt with the public like I do, you would realize you simply do NOT want to change things when a person is at this stage in life.

Wally has an identical interface and same remotes. As far as packages, no idea what she watched. When my mother was alive she had to have a certain package for Dr. Pimple Popper

And I installed Dish and Direct for 9 years, I've seen it all. Left in 2007, the writing was on the wall, the heyday was over.

If you cancel locals, do you lose 4K Fox?
