If you cancel locals, do you lose 4K Fox?

Now that the leaves are almost off the trees, my rooftop antenna should work well and I can do a six month cancel of the locals. However, I've noticed this fall a lot more 4K sports content, and Hopper will advise me to switch to another channel. Fox is doing quite a bit and I'll get switched over to say channel 148 to watch it in 4K. If you cancel the locals, would you lose the 4K sibling? And guessing you wouldn't be advised there was a 4K option if you weren't on the local FOX to begin with.

I receive my locals via an antenna and I am still able to receive the channel 148 4K channels. I have a Hopper 3.

I have the Flex package and if I do not subscribe to the Locals, I wasn't able to receive the 4K Fox 540-series channels. Maybe that's changed, I haven't tried lately.

Okay, I'm surprised. I do not sub to the Sports Pack or our Locals via Dish, but I can tune in the 148-01 Channel to see the Brewers v. Dodgers NLCS game. This is nice 😊…

I watched 148. i wasn't impressed with dish 4k. it looks better coming via ota
Sounds like something isn't right with your setup.
I watch quite a bit of Dish 4K events, and also via several streaming apps.
For the most part, there is no visible difference from the dish feed vs. streaming apps, and also YTTV, which I have had access to.
Check to make sure your TV HDMI input is properly set to enhanced, input signal plus, HDR enabled, etc. Make sure your Hopper3 setting is enabled for 4K, 1080p or 1080i. (That's one setting)

Even an ATSC 3.0 NextGen signal is typically limited to 1080p.
ATSC 1.0 signals are usually 720p or 1080i, and always SDR.

All of this also assumes that you have a 4K HDR capable TV set.

When set up correctly, the difference is quite dramatic.
Of course the production quality can make a difference too, but there should never be a case when the 4K HDR version looks worse than OTA.
