Who to blame for missing Guide? the provider, Dish or this old geezer?

Have been with Dish over 20 years. don't remember seeing this before.
the Guide stopped providing information at 8 am today! hopper3 did not record my local news at 6 and national news at 6:30 pm. it somehow recorded MS Now between 4 and 6 pm. All those were scheduled to record.

what is going on? technical difficulties? Dish didn't pay the bill? this geezer's hopper is dying?

Is rebooting the machine going to solve the problem?

Pardon my ignorance. Never done this before.

Need to figure it out. Check switch under Hopper Settings?
What does it accomplish? Does it help start downloading the guide?
Has to be Hopper, not Joey?
I am heading to my basement to turn on Hopper and mess with the settings now.

Allright friends. I am back. turned tv and hopper3 on. this is what was on the screen...

The green bar slowly moved to the right. It took a while.

this should take no more than 5 minutes to complete

tv activity
tuner 1-4
tuner 3 showed guide update.
the remote would not select tuner 3! weird.
selected tuner 1. blank screen. pressed guide on remote. was able to pick alive channel.

The guide shows programming for 2 and 1/2 days. Again, it stops on Saturday, 8 am.

Hopper recorded prime time channels last night.

When I checked guide under settings I did not see manual update. how do I do that?

On the Hopper, go to Diagnostics under settings. Scroll down to Tools. There will be an option to update guide there.
 
Afaik cannot specifically request guide refresh. Sometimes I have noted that if you page ahead in the guide to where it starts saying "no info" it may then ask if you want to load guide. Also should load full guide after a reset. But this is pre-hopper information. I still have 722.

If you don't have a Hopper, why are you commenting on what you can or cannot do with it. What Darrel S posted is exactly correct.
 
I'm not saying anyone is incorrect, and are you saying that nothing prehopper does translates over to a hopper?
The Hopper family have a different OS than your ViP 722. There are additional features in the Hopper that make it easier to perform some functions than the ViP receivers. Why would you sit there smashing the Page Next button to trigger a Guide Download when you can go into the Diagnostics Menu and request it there? Oh, and the Hopper won't blank out what you're watching to download the Guide, it uses one of its many Satellite tuners to do that in the background.

The Hopper is a superset of functionality over the ViP 722. Many things are the same, but improvements have been made. I liked my ViP 722 when we had it, but the Hopper 3 fits our needs better than the 722 did. Your use case isn't the same, so enjoy your 722 while you can. At some point, whether a hard drive failure, or Power Supply capacitor, or Lightning strike, something may do in your 722 and Dish may have trouble getting you a suitable replacement.

Friday afternoon. Finally, I had time to work on this manual update option. I unplugged the Hopper cord and waited 10 seconds just to be safe.
So, I went to 'Tools' under 'Diagnostics'. I selected 'update Guide'. The screen went back to the previous page. No indication of download process. I expected both Hopper and one Joey2, which was on, to temporarily lose the connection. Waited few minutes and shut the hoppper off. Tv was still on and it showed it was still downloading with percentage. When it was finished, I turned the hopper on and went to 'Guide'.
Still ,the same! It stops at 4 pm on Sunday.
Something isn't right. Is the guide provider to Dish causing this? Is my Hopper slowly dying?

If I didn't record a lot, this wouldn't be a major issue to me. I was planning to record all the World Cup soccer games on Fox. starting on June 11th. I will be away next week.

Should I call Dish and ask what they can do?

Give it until tomorrow. Some of these downloads take a few to catch up.
