SatelliteGuys / Dish Network Meet And Greet Report

Wish I could have been there. Next time it hits Atlanta, or somewhere that close to me I will be there God willing.

When they were asking what missing HD channels were important to us, I let them know there were a lot of people waiting for these and that it comes up repeatedly. I also told them it would make me happy personally if the RSNs all went away completely :p.

THANK YOU for mentioning this. I take it that since Scott did not mention it in the intitial recap that we should expect anything to change any time soon?

At this point it's a little hard to say which way they'll go. ;)

:confused::confused: This doesn't sound good, what did you mean by this? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to publish the answer.

Thanks

db2

Can I be so bold to ask what the issue is with the Turbo HD package?

What is there that needs fixing?

The Turbo HD subscribers are not getting the new HD channels added to their packages. Of the 4 Fox and 7 Viacom HD channels added this year, the Turbo subs have received none of the Fox HD and only 3 of the Viacom HD channels. The Turbo packages started out as the equivalent of the classic package with the same metal name except just those channels that had HD versions. They are no longer on that same parallel. Adding fuel to the fire, the Turbo packages received the large rate increases this year and Jim DeFranco state the price increases would be worth it due to the new HD to be added. That obviously hasn't been the case thus far.

Some did not know about it... but now they do. :D

Glad to hear some of them know about the problem and are looking for a solution or at least tell us for sure why they cannot provide it instead of letting us dangle and be irritated. The question is how can everyone in the Exec Office not know about it? Do they ever have meetings there so everyone knows what's going on? :) Crikey, if you don't know what product you're selling, how can one be a good manager?

db2, that last part is just my humor (note the winkie). They didn't comment either way or even give a cryptic response on the channels we mentioned, including the RSNs. But now that I have pull with Dish ...

I want to thank Scott for putting this together, and also thank Charlie and the VP's that took the time to chat with us. It was great to meet everyone!

The discussion was very interesting and gave a pretty good insight to the issues that they have to deal with, and also to see that some issues that we speculate about the Dish team are very true!

Here are some photos from today of Scott and the guys giving the 922 a workout.

These were from my Palm Treo 755 phone and may be fuzzy.

Sorry I didn't take any upstairs with Charlie. I was to busy listening to what he had to say.

I know a lot of people want specific information, but I have one general question since Scott said he couldn't go into details. Scott, was any discussion given to additional English language programming of ANY kind coming this year? I am most interested in some of the HD, but am interested in a few different basic channels too.

Scott, thanks for the news from Team Summit this week. I am still getting my feet wet with Dish, after being a long time Directv sub, From what read it sounded like they are going to work on the issues they know they have. I think the future is bright!! Keeping finges crossed that they are going to work on the small things that can make a difference.

One thing that I think has been changing is the CSR piece, I dont know how often it was before, but in the month or so that I have had Dish, the both times I called with questions got someone that appeared to be talkin in the USA
