He will be replaced by John Gruden.

Good. At lease Gruden will add some useful and knowledgeable commentary to the booth instead of meaningless slap-stick.

So long Korn-cobb-pipe!

Thank god!!!!! I had to watch monday night football on mute.. I like him in PTI and that's it. good move......

Next up: ABC needs to can Kornheiser's long lost brother - - - Jeff van Gundy.

What I don't understand is...IF you HIRE these guys because of their shtick....then why TRY to make them "serious" color analyst? Why not let them be the person they were hired for in the 1st place??!! I mean some of this COULD have worked if they allowed these guys to be themselves....instead of trying to be some kind of stats guy.....

PTI is about the best thing going for him right now, he and Wilbon are a good team. His radio show is a million times better than anything MNF related. That's where he talks sports only once in a while for the casual fans like us who don't want to hear 24-7 coverage of someone else's team. I do wonder why they feel the need to have a 3rd guy in the booth at all.

He cited his fear of flying as his reason for stepping down...

I'm sorry but that's pants on head retarded. If you have a fear of flying, you don't quit a money-printing deal like he probably had. You do what everyone else who hates flying does: Enter an Ambien coma or get loaded before lift off.

I never had much of a problem with Kornheiser. What I don't understand is why ESPN would name Gruden as his replacement. Here's a guy that just left as a coach and has NEVER been an announcer before. Who knows if he's any good? Why put him on a big stage like that? ESPN has plenty of seasoned analysts they could call on to replace Kornheiser. Besides everything I heard is that Chucky wants to coach again so this may not last long anyway. ESPN should hire someone who people can get familiar with.

thanks for reminding me i neglected to email espn after they chose to interview jeff van gundy after dwight howard ripped his bro during a press conference. there's this rule they teach you in journalism 101. you are suppose to declare conflict of interest if someone wants to interview you about a friend and/or relative.

what little respect i had left for espn went out the door with that one!

I call BS on the excuse.

If he had a fear of flying, why did he originally agree to the job, and how did he last three years doing it??

I think since he was so bad in the booth, ESPN management let him save face and resign from that job, instead of getting the ax. How would it look if he got sacked from one job at the network when he still has another??

Because on PTI AND his radio...he is allowed to be himself....something that MNF did not want.
